This game hit home. Hard.
Let's start with the fact I have a similar condition as one of the characters in the story. Their depiction was no less awkward than how I perceive the world around me every single day. The game ruined me. I was crying before I knew what hit me. This is a good thing.
Then the rest of the story. Every time I knew it was coming and every time it happened it felt like it was coming out of a blind corner. My emotions were played like the piano played for most of the musical score.
WHY DID THIS GAME MAKE ME CRY SO MUCH???? I had to play it all in one go. I could not tear myself away from it. I TRIED, but every time I made a new save, something in me said "Just a little further. They can't be doing what you think they are.." and then I was proven wrong and my emotions got the better of me again.

There are a few minor problems with the game mechanics, but nothing that a quick reset of the brain and new view on a changing situation can't fix. And if nigh-on 20 years of gaming has taught me anything, it's to have a decent skill in adaptability.

I fully recommend this game. I can't recommend it hard enough. Go play it. Why are you still reading this? GO BUY THIS GAME!

Accepting the loss of some of the more detailed stats and operational management that the original had and this new game lacks, XCOM: Enemy Unknown plays like a worthy successor to the first entry in the series released some 18 years ago. This is truly the game that hopefully sets the series straight again. Worth the wait.
