This space dedicated in memory of 2nd Lt. Craig Reed, USMC, VMF - 214. Born in 1919 and raised in Willingboro, NJ, Reed enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. before WWII and was stationed in the Pacific as part of the Marine fighter wing at Midway. He was quickly promoted to Gunnery Sergeant as a pilot for the skill he showed in the air. Shortly after being awarded the bronze star while flying under the wing of Captain Char Aznable, he was given a battlefield commission and promoted to 2nd Lt. However, on the final day of the Battle of Midway, Lt. Reed gave his life to save Capt. Aznable from a Japanese Zero while on patrol. Both himself and the captain exhausted their ammo supplies and to protect the Captain, Lt. Reed rammed the enemy fighter with his own P-39 Aircobra. Capt. Aznable has since been furiously writing recomendations that he be awarded the Medal of Honor for this act and letters to all that knew Lieutenant Craig Reed.

This steam group is for all our FA pilots who fly anything from Blenheims to "Fishboats." If you have any aviation interest or background, play any flight sims, or even Ace Combat and other arcade flight games then you're welcome here. However the express purpose of this group is for the "Flying Amphibians" : a highly trained group of professional virtual pilots with skills in flight sims dating back to Janes ATF and WWII Fighters simulations. Of course that's a falsehood that only describes the CO but the gist is that we in command of the VFAA-111 want people to play games with us on hyperlobby just to fly around, have fun, and bag kills.
You don't have to have IL-2 1946 or be competant as a pilot, but we'd like you to join anyway.
And always remember: "Keep the blue side up, keep the brown side down, stay out of the trees."
