Wow. I mean WOW.

These games do not come very often. From start-up to the credits, Tomb Raider is fun all the way through and never misses a note. It's got the 3rd person platforming you'd expect, puzzle solving, superb combat, and breath-taking environments that you just want to get lost in.

A well developed story, with characters that you actually care about, and just a phenomenal experience overall.

And there's also collectibles to get, there's a whole multiplayer portion, and of course you can expect me to replay this a few times just because.

10/10. Most likely GOTY 2013 for me. Just that good.

Maybe instead of Metacritic they should call it MEGAcritic and it's just a website of all my reviews.

P.S I am never going to truthfully review this because it's too boring to even start.

This game is the kind of game that a father gives to his son when his son asks "Dad I want that new really expensive game!" but then the dad just hands him a flash drive labeled with Sharpie on masking tape saying "GAME" and then the kid puts it into his computer and because his dad doesn't buy him anything else he figures he's going to play it to completion, and then immediately upon completing the game he realizes that he is the Faerie master, and then when the rising of evil and darkness comes, he is able to LAY DOWN THE CARDS, PLAY THEM RIGHT, FREE THE FAERIES, AND SAVE THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE

I thought it was pretty fun.

HEY LUCID,

I KNOW WE'RE GOOD FRIENDS AND ALL

BUT WHY HAVE A SFX SLIDER THAT WHEN YOU SLIDE IT (AS YOU WOULD WITH ANY OTHER SLIDER) IT DOESN'T EVEN DECREASE THE SFX????

ALSO NO ONE WILL BUY YOU BECAUSE YOUR DEVELOPER GIVES YOU OUT FOR FREE ON REDDIT ON ALL DAYS ENDING IN A Y

Love, MEGATRUCK

Deadlight goes from bad to worse. In the beginning of the game it has potential, but it isn't expressed very well, making the beginning of the game average. But near the end, it drops significantly and closes with a really bad ending. It's also incredibly short.

If you're a fan of platformers with some minimal shooting then it would be ok to pick up if it's cheap (like under $5). It also has some replay value, but there really is nothing new to expand on once you beat it.
30 January 2013 @ 4:23pm
A very well made first person brawler. While it isn't exactly GOTY material, it does have some very enjoyable fights and impressive scenery and detail.

It also goes for pretty cheap in a lot of sales, so there's no reason why you shouldn't get it.
6 January 2013 @ 12:57pm
Hotline Miami takes a lot of stealth, yet it's still got satisfying kills and combos to make it much more action packed and intense. You have to plan out your strategy before you enter a room, and it can take a lot of trial and error, but it pays off in the end.

It lacks in replay value, but it grabs your attention and keeps it long enough for you to be able to be content if that was all that there is.

But a sequel's coming out so you don't even have to be content yet!
6 January 2013 @ 12:48pm
A very fun platforming MOBA. The Awesomenauts are each unique in their own way and can contribute to the team greatly depending on your build. Because it's 2D, it should be able to run on even low PCs, so you can always play this when you're on the go.

My only problem is that it's only 3v3 multiplayer, but this could only be changed if the maps were made much larger, unless it just changes to 4v4, which I could imagine being ok.
3 January 2013 @ 10:39am
Tons of fun to play with friends, and all the DLC is worth it (at sale price) as they extend the game tremendously. You can spend dozens of hours playing this. Even after you get bored, you'll find yourself coming back to it eventually.

why did i not recommend this before

this game sucks

I'm not entirely done with this yet, but here are my thoughts:

Postal 2 itself: Ridiculously fun. There are objectives to complete for each day of the week in the life of the Postal dude, but you can do them in whatever order you please and visit anywhere you want. You can make choices such as "Do I want to buy a donut, or will I just go behind the counter to snag them all and kill the cashier?". Definately a fulfilling experience of about 8 hours worth.

Multiplayer: More of the same violence and mayhem. Standard multiplayer gamemdoes, so there really isn't much to this either than the Postal touch to it. Still fun, though.

Apocalypse Weekend: I have yet to beat this, but it's taken me 2 hours so far. It's much more linear and objective than the base game, but that allows for a higher concentration of violence to practice using your new melee weapons in. Also, you experience head trauma and fight Gary Coleman's that aren't actually there. Incredible.

Overall, while Postal 2 may be quite dated, obscure, and sometimes downright offensive, it's still a great game worthy of playing. Let your bad side go wild.
1 December 2012 @ 9:17pm
A great spin-off to an already great series. Definately increases the action of regular Tomb Raider games, but also keeps the same adventuring and puzzling elements of the original games so it doesn't stray too far off course.

Great control feel, a nice graphical style, and fantastic gameplay.
2 November 2012 @ 12:57pm
Pretty short (I believe an hour or so of the recorded time was spent while I was away from the computer eating dinner) and not much replay value, but still a nice experiment.

The good thing about Deception (which I cannot compare to the others as I have not played them) is that it generally has puzzles that are thought-provoking yet simple enough to keep the plotline going smoothly.

Only complaints are that there were 2-3 puzzles that just had a ridiculous thought process behind them, and that the game glitched at times where the dialogue just went by at lightning speed.

Overall it seemed more story-oriented, but was still a nice point n' click experience. Buy it in the bundle or when it's on sale.
20 October 2012 @ 6:33pm
I cried, but at the wrong part. The ending was good, but it was just... off.

Regardless, this game is primarily story and nothing else. The story is well-developed because of this, but of course that means gameplay is extremely limited. Play this if you want a story experience, not a game experience.
19 October 2012 @ 9:00pm
I'm not yet done with Rochard, but Rochard does everything right in a game. The concepts in Rochard aren't exactly mind-breakingly innovative, but they are executed flawlessly. The graphics have a great style to them, the physics work well and don't hinder gameplay, the music is rock-awesome along with the voice acting, and the story is simple yet gripping enough so that it keeps you going.

The game also keeps giving you new gameplay mechanics but so far I haven't been overencumbered with them, and they are dispersed neatly throughout the levels so that the gameplay doesn't feel repetitive.

Overall, this game shows that a quality game can still be made even at a $10 price point and still feel fantastic. GOTY material.
15 October 2012 @ 7:41pm
And now to properly recommend Blades of Time (because I finally beat it):

Wow oh wow is this game a blast. Slice and dice through enemies, shoot them with your gun, shoot them with a rocket launcher, shoot them with a gun that turns them into ice, OR just turn them into ice using your magic, or set them on fire with your magic or hit them with rocks using your magic. Oh yeah, and you can rewind time.

You could argue that the story isn't exactly gripping but that doesn't really *matter* when the game itself is a thrillride on it's own.

I give this game a heck out of yes. Buy it.
14 October 2012 @ 9:26am
Jet Set Radio is not for those who are opposed to any kind of funhave.

Seriously, this game is such an incredible icon I wish I had heard about it earlier. Even as someone who hasn't played a whole lot of skating games, the skating was easy to pick up and became really fun.

There's also still so much for me to do even after beating the game, so I think there's definately quite a bit of replay value here.

One of my new favorites. I already want a port of Jet Set Radio Future.
1 October 2012 @ 7:29pm
CAN SOMEONE JUST PLEASE BUY THIS SO I CAN PLAY CO-OP

IT'S A GOOD GAME, TRUST ME
27 September 2012 @ 8:41pm
First person puzzle game with a silent protagonist and a storyline of controversy.

0/10 Portal rip-off

But in all honesty this game was pretty decent (and challenging, I rage-quit for quite a while) but my only gripe is that some puzzles were more about timing then anything else, which wasn't too helpful with the puzzles.
16 September 2012 @ 4:26pm
If you told me "MEGATRUCK it's been too long since you've beaten Underworld yet didn't recommend it", you'd be right.

I've only become a recent fan of Tomb Raider, but this game is still astounding to me. It's got some secrets to collect for replayability, but for a regular campaign that took me 16 hours to beat is still very impressive.

It's a darn shame that this game doesn't have its own Croft Manor, but I still love it. It's also suprisingly not too linear: every location you visit has multiple places you have to go to, and even going backwards through tombs can still be refreshing.

Without any exaggeration, this is quite possibly GOTY material. Play it and you'll be hooked too.
17 August 2012 @ 7:49pm
Eversion is pretty short when it comes to beating it, and there is some replay value to it to discover the other endings, but from what I see before me, there isn't much left to do.

Pick it up right now or wait for a sale, either way you need to play this game. I don't want to spoil anything, but the game definately becomes more than what meets the eye.

And for a story with little text behind it, it's still more compelling that some other fully scripted video game stories. Trust me, you'll want to play it until the end and you will want to get all the endings. It's just that much worth it.

This edition is in HD with Steam capability, but there's also a free version here: http://zarat.us/tra/offline-games/eversion.html

Either way, you need to play this.
6 August 2012 @ 7:15pm
Ok, you guys, let me break it down for you.

Hydrophobia. Prophecy.

This game isn't close to being the best game ever because it's rough around the edges, but it's everything you want in a game.

Tomb Raider style jumping, 5 weapons IN ONE GUN, shooting underwater, hacking, and controlling water.

Controlling water.

CONTROLLING WATER.

CONTROLLING WATER OR I'LL CUT YOUR ARMS OFF

I give it a 3/2.7, 5 being GOTY and 32 being the worst game ever.
5 August 2012 @ 8:44pm
Amnesia is a game made by those nerdy kids that got picked on in highschool so that they could finally spook the bullies.

This game is neither fun nor scary. In the 54 minutes I have played of it I have only encountered one monster, got confused tremendously, and haven't been spooked once.

It also apparently tries so hard to load up the spooks that it crashes trying to do so.

What a waste of game. You'd get more scared sitting in your backyard at night listening to ghost stories from little kids.
4 August 2012 @ 7:16pm
As we walk among these shadows, in these streets, these fields of battle
Take it up, we wear the medal, raise your hands with burning candles
Hear us whisper in the dark, in the rain you see the spark
Feel the beating of our hearts, fleeting hope as we depart

All together, walk alone against all we've ever known
All we've ever really wanted was a place to call our home
But you take all we are, the innocence of our hearts
Made to kneel before the alter as you tear us apart

So we MARCH to the drums of the DAMNED as we come
Watch it BURN in the sun, WE ARE NUMB

We are young, but we have heart
Born in this world as it all falls apart
We are strong, but we don't belong
Born in this world as it all falls apart.

In Special Operators: The Lineage the basic gameplay (you know, the reason why you should buy a game) is very bare bones cover and shoot, which of course gets exceedingly repetitive and frustrating how you can't be out of cover for 10 seconds or else you die.

"But the story's at least good, right?"

Nope. The story is just so bland throughout the game and it only redeems itself with the ending(s) where you really make the big decisions. It's without a doubt one of the most captivating endings to a video game, but it really only stands out because the rest of the story was plain. The choices you make leading up to the ending don't impact the story (or the ending) one single bit. Sure it can test your morals, but in the end it's really just the equivalent of choosing which shirt you should wear.

Also, NO ONE plays the multiplayer. And this is for good reason, too.
16 July 2012 @ 7:26pm
Definately an improvement off of Buckets of Blood. The multiplayer feels just so right for this game, and even though not all the maps are in yet, this will become the definitive Foreign Legion game. It's also got some pretty neat humor too, like in one map there's a turret but you can't use it BECAUSE IN THIS GAME YOU DON'T NEED COVER GOSH DARNIT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO RUN UP TO THOSE BAD GUYS AND DELIVER A CLIP'S WORTH OF CARNAGE RIGHT IN THEIR SKULLS

WHERE'S MY OATMEAL, LINDSEY?!?!?!?!?
13 July 2012 @ 8:02pm
This DLC pack is very short (about an hour long) but it's still very enjoyable. Buy the Limited Edition instead of buying the game and then this, it's less money spent and also has bonus content, too.
12 July 2012 @ 7:36pm
This game is pretty short (3.1 hours logged) and doesn't have any replay value, but it is fun all the way through. The lead characters are both great, and there's even some laughable humor towards the end. It's got adventure-game styled gameplay intermixed with a 3rd person shooter, which is a strange combination that works surprisingly well. Biggest downside though is that it ends on a cliffhanger for a second part that was due Summer 2008 and has never seen the light of day. I'd say this is well worth at least $5 though.
8 July 2012 @ 8:45pm
This is probably one of the best free-to-play games on the market right now. MOBA 3rd person action with great mechanics. It's probably one of the most competitive games I have ever played, and I love it.
8 July 2012 @ 6:38am
This game is so far pretty dumb and buggy. It's not even scary, and at its current setup there isn't anything to do but sneak past the wardens, which have super hearing.
7 June 2012 @ 6:56pm
You like hearing Simon & Lewis? Good. BECAUSE HERE, THEY NEVER SHUT UP.

The Israphael boss fight is a little cool though.
12 May 2012 @ 6:39am
If you're only going to get one of the maps, then get this one. It's pretty linear as far as structure is concerned, but the jump platforms and additional walkways allow for many positions of firing at enemies. The teleporters are also pretty neat, making the path span across multiple platforms
6 May 2012 @ 12:53pm
It's not like CoD for two reasons:
1. IT'S NOT LIKE CoD
2. It isn't like the first 2 Sam games, it keeps the same formula but makes many more improvements to show that this is the definitive Sam game. If you're a fan of the series, don't pass this up.
8 January 2012 @ 8:54am
Worms is a classic franchise that I used to play as a kid and Reloaded does not disappoint me. If you are a Worms fan, there's no reason to not get this.
6 January 2012 @ 8:27pm
A time-waster (a good one) and nothing more. If you find yourself bored often, then this is a game for you. If not, your 5 dollars could easily go to a bigger experience.
30 December 2011 @ 9:01pm
Teaches how to play poker, very easy to play and gets you some cool Team Fortress 2 items. Worth the money.
27 December 2011 @ 10:05am
I DOMINATE THIS GAME
26 November 2011 @ 12:30pm
A mix of FPS and Tower Defense executed nicely. You upgrade weapons and build in one phase, then all fighting in the next phase, which repeats wave after wave. With the variety of enemies there becomes more strategy involved then to just shoot enemies with the biggest weapons. It is arguably more fun with friends. And it's 3.75 for another 30 minutes, so get it!
11 July 2011 @ 9:31am
I gotta write a new recommendation for this. The visuals are absolute garbage. If you want to see better flashy stuff, go watch some fireworks. This game has a ticket today, but I don't want to bother trying due to how poorly this game is made.
5 July 2011 @ 11:03am
It's free now, don't hate
30 June 2011 @ 9:01pm
Firstly, the price breakdown for this is 10 bucks for 8 levels, which isn't that bad. The game itself is pretty unique in how it is both an adventure game and sort of a puzzle game, where you need to be clever at times to get past a level. My only nags are that the platforming sections of this game are a little tricky and require almost perfect jumps, and that at times you feel you have so much space to walk in, but you can't move that fast to get through it all in a short amount of time. Overall: 9/10
1 January 2011 @ 6:38pm
The developer that made this has a money crisis, and fears that this is their last game. For only 10 bucks, it really is worth it for the money!
19 November 2010 @ 2:10pm
