As far as "Resident Evil clones" go, this is pretty solid, although after the first area, there's an obvious dip in quality.

When you press the taunt button, your character points his sword and it not only does damage, but it wall-bounces an enemy you are juggling. If you understand this sentence, you will almost certainly like this game because it's full of sicko tech similar to this.

I didn't come into the game with any major expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of polish. While the story mode is pretty short and the meat and bones is the arcade mode, all the parts of very high quality and full of charm, from the tutorial, to the cutscenes and cosmetics.

For the asking price, it's very much worth it if you want something for short casual bursts.

UPDATE: I got to "an ending" and this game slaps.

This is a very strange premise for a game. You don't play as actual BlazBlue characters, but you do mind training and use BlazBlue characters as some sort of memory/shell/figment. Apparently, it's also tied to the BlazBlue lore somehow, but I can't even understand the basic BlazBlue plot despite playing it for over a decade.

In gameplay terms, this is a Dead Cells-y roguelike where you pick a character and buff them throughout the run. If you're familiar with BlazBlue, this will feel like some crazy joy ride because you have things like Hakumen doing a Yukikaze and slashing 5 times in quick succession while enhanced with super armor.

It is also very slick and stylish. It has a sort of cyber aesthetic going, but not "neon" and more just "we really like hexagons and diamonds" cyberpunk.

All in all, I like it. It's just weird, but not bad weird, more "I don't understand what they were going for and why this is BlazBlue-related, but I dig it."

This is primarily an arcade twin-stick shooter with roguelike elements for some run variance. If you prefer roguelikes where performance is more important than persistent upgrades or RNG, you'll probably like the balance here.

The movement is very satisfying, and the arenas take full advantage of it. Combat also has a good flow once you wrap your head around it.

In general, if you want a quality arcade game along the lines of Assault Android Cactus, with some lighter variance in weapons and upgrades, you'll enjoy this. If you want a roguelike that's more dependent on numbers and RNG, then play something like Gungeon or Nuclear Throne I guess.

I managed to do one hour of fighting without a crash finally. I think there's more to fix, but I just wanna say this is one of the most fun anime fighters on the market.

I adore this game and I am overjoyed that it has rollback. It's one of my favorite anime fighters. But I can't deal with this port. It crashes so much. It disconnects even more. I just want to play the game with my friends, please.

Early Access Review
I know this game is marketed as "Hades meets Vampire Survivors," but I don't think that pitch makes it super clear in what way.

1) You get blessings from gods using the same formatting as the blessings in Hades (although upgrading the "rarity" of blessing is much easier than in Hades)
2) Your "meta progression" is actually Diablo-styled loot. The only non-gear progression is unlocking perks for characters, of which you can have only one equipped at a time
3) Outside of that, it's basically what you'd expect from a survivor-like

I think it's very good and very polished. The pixel art is very nice and the abilities and their interactions feel satisfying for most part. I don't like the writing at all, which is a weird thing to bring up for a game of this genre, but since the main think I associate Hades with is the narrative, I just want to say that this game has 0 charm in its writing (but you may like it more than I did).

If you've exhausted 20 Minutes Till Dawn and Halls of Torment, this is the next best thing in the genre right now.

First impressions of this are very good. Would put it in the same category as 20 Minutes Till Dawn and Halls of Torment as far as Vampire Survivor-likes go. I'm also a big fan of the late 90s/early 00s PC GIF aesthetic.
