The moment they brought me into my mom's holographic hospital room and a guy wearing a skull mask said "madam president, your son's here" I knew I was going to be in for one hell of a ride.

100+ hours and a negative review? It makes no sense. Well.. here's the reason: this game doesn't respect your time. Over and over you have to walk from one end of a city to another. In pen & paper pathfinder you just say "I go back to shamira" but in this game you click the door, wait for your party to walk to the door, click the portal, wait, click the other portal, wait, click the portal, wait, click the door, then click shamira. There's stuff like this all over the game, where you walk over here, and walk over there, and have to sit there watching your guys walking.

Its got a thing like heroes of might and magic.. but its super boring. Thankfully you can turn it off in the options, but you still have to do lame throne room stuff like in kingmaker... again.. you wait for the guy to walk to the throne, read some choices that have almost no impact on the story or the game. Also like kingmaker some of the encounters are hilariously overtuned and difficult compared to other things in the area. Remember the owlbear in kingmaker? There's fights like that all over the place where if you brought the party member with the hard counter, its a cakewalk, otherwise its a total party kill. The only way thru it is to read a guide or savescum.

Also, you know how you can rest to refill your spells? Well every time you rest you build up corruption, eventually getting enough corruption to have stat penalties. The only way to cure corruption is to walk all the way back to town. Of course, once you get to town and rest, to get back out of town you need to watch your guy physically walk to the door of his bedroom after you wake up. And then you have to walk all the back to whatever you were doing when your corruption got too high.

If I wanted to watch people walking, I'd go outside.

There are a lot of things to optimize in this game! Where do you put the break rooms? Where do you put the work stations? Do materials flow through the plant efficiently into finished goods? Is it better to use plastic or wood for this part? Are the quality and materials cost trade-offs worth having a more parallel production pipeline?

The random events where you get rats or whatever are annoying, its true, but you can turn them off.

The game boils down the real-world job of production planning to its essence without adding a ton of details that really don't matter at all.

The difficulty curve is really gentle, so don't get turned off by complexity of the production plans in the screenshots. It doesn't start you out with that. You start with two-part things like shovels and rakes. Eventually you work your way up to things like bikes and then on to even more complex things like airplanes and cars.

This so sooo close to being a good game. Day-Z with robots in Sweden would have been great. This is not that game.

The bad:

* The enemy AI. Its got face hugger robots. Its got dog robots. Its got hulk-smash robots. They do their little things and make some decisions. Its all ruined by how they can track you through walls and by how much damage you take from them even when you are behind a rock due to their cone-fire clipping you in the elbow.

* Crafting. Wow you can make stuff? It gives you 1% damage reduction. Too bad the robots do so much damage per shot that even with 1% reduction, you still die in the same number of hits.

* Bikes. There is no reason for the bike animations and physics to be this good in a game like this. Look at me almost endo over the handlebars when I hit a rock. Look at that my guy is putting his feet on the ground and shimmying backwards! Too bad you can only go fast on the road and robots spawn on the road every 500 feet.

* Sniper rifle! Wait.. did I hit that robot, I cant tell.. there's a particle system of sparks or something but was that from the robot or was that from the metal can behind the robot? Do robots have weak points for me to shoot with the sniper rifle? Maybe? All I know is if you shoot a hulk-smash type robot in its red-glowing head with a sniper rifle it doesn't kill it in one shot or even put it into its amost-dead-and-on-fire state.

* NPCs. There are none. I went to the hunter's cabin. What I expected: A robot hating Solaire of Astora, with some bad dialog about how everyone thought he was crazy but now look at the world. What I got: A sniper rifle with no bullets.

* Survival gameplay. There is none. There's no food meter. No thirst meter. No sleep requirement meter. "Survival" in this game boils down to open world stealth puzzles where if you get caught, the robots never give up because they can see you through walls and terrain features.

The good:

The robots look cool and the trees look cool and the sunrises look cool and for some reason the animations for riding a bike are the best bike animations i've ever seen in a game, and that includes games that are only about bikes.

15 minutes in, and the game's tutorial is still holding my hand. I'm just clicking where it tells me. What's the point?

Fun game and stuff. But there is a problem...

The end of the game is a grindy slog. One particular quest chain has you walking to an NPC once a week to progress the quest.. for five weeks in a row. There is no way to go to bed early and skip days in this game. You have to wait. In real life. For more than 2 hours in total. And there is other stuff like this in-game, where you wait to progress a quest one notch, only to be told you need to wait another week to progress it again.

Since most people will only play this game for the first ~10-20 hours, I can still recommend it. But, if you are a completionist, you better hope you have an audible.com subscription to help you deal with the endgame.

I'm gonna be honest with you guys. There's a ton of bad stuff about this game.

1) The audio. Music is too loud. Gun sounds are too soft. Enemy footstep sounds might not actually exist.

2) The gunplay. Conefire is extreme. Melee attacks are too weak. No reload animations. Enemy snipers not fun to fight, shield enemies are not fun to fight. Takes too many hits to down an enemy, like the police are zombies from L4D. Wave after wave of cops is very repetitive.

3) VR specific problems: In VR, they don't attach the butt of the gun to your shoulder so you can aim. Tried using the modeled iron sights but the conefire ruins it. In VR you can't really tell when you are getting hit. Its hard to tell if you are doing a melee attack. When doors open toward you, they slam in your face and push you away until you are just looking at a corner. Noi reload sounds so you can't tell when reload finishes without looking at it.

Usually when you look at the "screenshots" for a game and they all have muzzle flashes because they aren't actual gameplay, you know the game is going to be bad.

But its one of the only shooters with co-op so waddaya gonna do. You gotta play it because sometimes you need a break from Ghost Recon Wildlands 2.

Grip button on vive to shoot the bow. Get this game if you want to get hand cramps and work on getting a more manly handshake.
