In it's current state, I can't really recommend this game. I played the beta, and the fully released game has way more bugs than I seem to recall from the unfinished version. Ubisoft at it's finest.

Aside from the host of general menu glitches and constant crashing, there are several other factors to consider;

1) Netcode is terrible. Peer to peer was fine when there was nothing else, but a huge megacorporation like Ubisoft can afford some dedicated servers. People drop in and out of games constantly.

2) Serious issues with matchmaking. A lot of people play this game, I wouldn't mind waiting a few more seconds to get a game without double prestiged players in a lobby of level 10's.

Some personal nitpicks;

1) Ubisoft shekel grabbing as per usual, game costs 60 as is, and the deluxe (for which all you get is some helmet adornments..) is 70. That's way too high imo, season pass is 40 more dollars on top of that. For 60 I bought it on a whim, but if you intend to play seriously 110$ for a game this buggy is simply absurd.

2) U-Play is kinda ♥♥♥♥. Since this game is on steam to begin with, I see no reason why the devs couldn't add a few lines of code to adapt u-play connectivity to valve's; going through two launch platforms with two users and passwords is tedious and unnecessary.

However, the gameplay is so engaging and entertaining to me personally that I would keep an eye out for future updates and patches. Balance between heroes is good, and the ability to get in-game currency isn't bad at all, there's really no need to pay any money if you don't want to after initial purchase. If the issues above get fixed then there's a real experience to be had here, but since Ubisoft is holding the reins on this one I would be very surprised if they listened to any community feedback.

When I originally started playing this game, it was quite fun. War of the Roses was a really historically accurate game about a period in time that actually happened, which interested me greatly. The addicting customization options were varied and extremely engaging, offering a lot of really cool options that were totally overlooked in this game's competitors. The combat was different, and even a little slow, but it made sense and was quite good, as well as being realistic. However, after taking an extended leave of absence, a lot has changed. The customization is still unparralled, but the same issues that it had when the game came out were not resolved, namely the high expense of everything compared to how much you made each game. Combat now makes no sense at all, and is actually frustrating and genuinely terrible; it is slow, and the same weapons seen over and over and over are STILL broken and STILL haven't been fixed. Archery is now a joke. Even simply moving around the map has now devolved into what feels like trying to drag an extremely large dog around on an extremely long leash. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but it feels an awful lot like the developers gave up and started prostituting themselves out by making new and worthless content in order to drum up more sales, rather than fixing anything or improving on the game in any way. I would not advise anyone to play this game, in fact I would advise that everyone stay FAR away from this game and let it die in peace.
