Chained Ghost
Harrison Higgins   Washington, United States
The Chained Ghost looked on at the young man's elongated neck, attached only by that chain holding the ghost captive, and cried out once again
"Oh how blissful it was to languish in the youth ingorance,
Until the crows pecked at his soft skull,
To pick the meaningless joy from his eyes,
To gnaw the soft, hollow bones,
To claw at the neck, unsullen by the dryness of speech;
When the loop of fate finally took the callow of dullness from the boy,
I, left with anguish of destructive creativity,
Yet chained to the body of the boy,
Know the chain must be rended one day,
For that is the only hope I will have in escaping the torture of mediocrity."
