SMILEYS HISTORY:
Smiley is originally an icon created by journalist Franklin Loufrani. He made them in the early 1970s, he never patented his invention. He said that he regretted it [citation needed]. His invention consists of a yellow circle with a pair of eyes and a smiling mouth.

Today Smilies are switched over to be animated and more detailed than the old simple Smileys.
