Heil Steam!
One man against thousands of games,
poor thing doesn't stand a chance.
Are you impressed by Snicket’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events”? Do you like orphan, loss of parents, home burnt down by fire, and the mistrust of adults? If you furthermore enjoyed the pictures of Snicket’s novel, I guess this game will be an enjoyable one for you. Basically, it’s Baudelaire plus insanity, gore, and hysteria.
If you are not interested of twisted and dark tales, you might have a hard time in keeping the game turned on. Storyline, theme, and artistic style are main selling points of the game. Action, combat, and exploration are pretty much motivations for you to move around and enjoy the scenery from Alice’s imagination. Therefore, if you want intense and varied actions, pick something else.
One last word, this game does have cartoonish gore and decapitation, and all sorts of uncomfortable scenes. If you have played some bloody horror games before, I think you will be fine.
If you had played Gears of War before, you will be quite familiar to its style. Of course, this is a first person shooter, so it will have a slightly different experience.
Basically, you are a rogue merc previously working for the government; now, you found yourself on a crazy planet, with cannabilistic gangs and unexplanable creatures. You kill them and get out of there. Simple.
Is it fun? Well, if you enjoy bloody scenes and multilation, go ahead. You basically spread pain and disgust on your enemy. Smash them, decapitate them, burn them, and feed them (yes, FEED) - whether bullets, spikes, or actually let other creatures feed on them. Just kill them all.
Does it worth its bucks? When it is cheap and you want some half-dozen gaming hours burnt, go ahead. It should work.
This game is slightly awkward.
I can understand this game for being very straightforward, but I am still interested in a tutorial that can offer me some hints on the control. In general, the game is rather simple: hold numerous waves, fire weapons that dropped from crates, and survive. However, characters are rather dull and I did not see how they are thrown in the story. Mechanism is average, and so do graphics. Presentation is awkward - I had a feeling that I am thrown into some strange battlefield and start shooting for no good reason, or unexciting reason, so to speak.
For those who loved these kind of 2D shooters, I think you might enjoy it...to a certain extent. Somehow I don't feel this game has a strong replayability. It just doesn't has something to keep the players together.
