With the lack of a proper tutorial system (so far in the beta), DotA 2 would be a difficult choice for your first MOBA game. With many mechanics that must be kept in mind at all times and so many characters to choose from, it makes for an excellent teamwork/strategy game to play with friends or alone.
It's got at least 10 unique game modes and the ability to create more. A game limited only by your imagination!
