I've played a few games over the last 40 years of having computers and consoles, and this games is one of the few that offers a new experience. It reminds me a bit of Kentucky Route Zero, but it's procedural generation and it's narrative device of different runaways all along the same path just really offers something unique. I'm only on my 4th play, and I'm hooked.

I'm sure I'll reach the point where the content becomes repetitive, but even if next run was the one, the experience has already been worth it.

Absolutely loving it!

Pretty much the opposite of the latest AAA multiplayer FPS. Single player, just explore the story at your own pace.

This game is almost entirely about the story, and there are no BBEG, Orcs, or Dragons in it. If a story about a family, sisters, and high school in the nineties sounds interesting, give this game a try. It's a small indie game, and playing through once will take around 2-4 hours depending on how thorough you are,

The game does an excellent job of evoking that feeling of being small, and the world too large, and surrounded by banal everyday horror, magnified by a child's perspective.

Very "Portal-like" as a first person puzzler. In addition to just very fun levels, the in game story is actually very affirming. I kind of want a Dr. Glenn Pierce motivational tape now. I know it's just "fluff", but the overall effect of playing this game, solving the puzzles, combined with Dr. Glenn Pierce's support is a very rewarding experience. Not that I minded GlaDOS criticizing me in Portal.

I cannot overstate just how positive an experience this game was. It might be a little short for some, is the only criticism I can think of.

It's not Minecraft, it's not Stardew Valley, it's not Terraria, but… it's in the same family. It's a big universe, there's lots to explore, and build, but there is also a plot.

One of the criticisms I've seen levelled is that the main plot can be finished quickly. I don't know because I've been wandering doing sidequests, exploring, and basically just goofing around. I'm still progressing the main plot, just sporadically and slowly. Personally I like loading it up, doing a few sidequests, exploring a little bit, and then putting it down. If you're the type to just go hard at a game, you might be frustrated, although if you are into building, this game offers a great deal, although not quite surpassing Minecraft you can build a space station, a moon base, whatever.

My 5 year old daughter loves this game, and has played through it several times.
It is fairly similar to Teddy Floppy Ear - Mountain Adventure, a fairly linear adventure game with some kid friendly mini games throughout.
Kids at the older end of the age range will probably find the game less engaging, and since it is fairly short, will probably quickly solve it and move on to something else. For younger kids (4-6), they will definately get more from it. Because of the variety of mini-games, there is a fair amount of replay (once again, especially for the littler kids).
One of the best parts of the Teddy Floppy Ears games is the scenery, the voice acting, the whole aesthetic. In this regard, as much as TFE- Kayaking was a good buy, I would recommend TFE- Mountain Adventure over it. We've got all the TFE games now, and of them all, my daughter played Mountain Adventure the most.
Potential *BIG* downside, not mentioned in my TFE- Mountain Adventure review, your kid may tie up your Steam Account, a lot!

My little daughter has absolutely *loved* this game and has played through it several times.
It seems to be recommended for children 5-8, but I suspect kids near the upper end of that age range will quickly play through this.
The artwork is lush, colourful and very accessible to children, and the voice acting is great, although a faint "European" accent is noticeable, which I felt only added to the game, the effect being approximately equivalent to a "neutral" accent making it easy to understand.
The gameplay is essentially a fairly linear adventure game with minigames interspersed. The minigames can certainly be considered educational for the younger kids as well. The adventure game aspect helps you along by always reminding kids what the next quest is via the map function.
There is also a parent guide, which helps out if a kid gets stuck.
My only two issues (1.5 really) is the game was fairly short, but considering the low price isn't unexpected.
The other being a persistent crash on the Linux version, entering the Uncle's garden. But I'm running an unsupported distribution (so maybe my own fault), and thanks to the cloud save, I just used a save version past that scene on my Linux computer.
