Early Access Review
This game makes Don't Starve look like a walk down a spelunkhole. When I first played this game, it scared me so beyond my wits' end that I didn't play for another half a year. Implying that I played Darkwood again (credit goes to my girlfriend who just loves horror games - and seeing me die a little, ongoingly), I reinstalled the game and began tackling this monster.

Honestly, I adored Don't Starve for its unique gameplay and mechanics but I always felt like it lacked optimisation; Darkwood hits the genre right on the head and then doubles on that in its atmosphere.
Darkwood is brutal. Darkwood is complex. Darkwood is full of intrigue, plot (which is unique in this genre), very interesting combat mechanics as well as stealth mechanics, mystique--but mostly, Darkwood is tantalising~.

The only catch is: you'll want to read a community guide for the basics - the game is still in Alpha (I can't believe that there's more content and polish to come...), so it doesn't have a tutorial entirely.

Buy this game--it's damn cheap for one of the best games you'll ever play.
