For anyone who misses good adventure games, Wadjet Eye's Blackwell series is, without a doubt, a must play. Retro look, great writing, interesting characters, logical puzzles, fantastic music. The only downside is that they're a bit short, but completely worth it. And hey, at their current price, they're very much worth it.
Deception is the best of the series, but it's also the last (so far), so play the others before. Play order is: Legacy > Unbound > Convergence > Deception.
Really short, but really sweet. About 2 hours long for me, but 2 hours full of the most ridiculous, over the top, nicely flowing, violent action you'll find around.
Beautiful, creepy, dark and bleak. It's not your "feel good" game of the year by any standard, but it is absolutely beautiful. Two words that really describe this game would be "fluid" and "minimalistic".
"Fluid" because it's essentially one continuous travel. There are no "levels", no loadings, no visible checkpoints (well, they exist, and in a sufficient ammount to make deaths very bearable, they just don't announce themselves, you'll only notice them when you die or if you use the "load chapter" in the menu). Nothing to break the flow of the game. The animations and controls are very organic, and even the environments blend seamelessly together to the point that you might find yourself wondering when did you get here.
"Minimalistic" because of it's very design. Everything is clean, simple, and functional. If you see something you can interact with, you can bet your money you'll need to use it.
The downside is that it's a bit short (3.5h for me). And bleak. Totally worth it.
