Alright. Now, It may be of no surprise that I have recently become addicted to this game. Why not? It has everything. Shooting people, shooting people in tanks, shooting people in aircraft, shooting aircraft with people, racing, shooting tanks with people, shooting people with people. What could it be missing?

Oh, yes. Everything that defined the original Planetside as an original game.

In the original PlanetSide, you had to fucking WORK to get shit done. You had to specialize your character into a niche role. People who went "LOLCOD" mode couldn't drive tanks, and vice versa. Defending a base had a purpose, rather than denying the enemy out of spite (currently you gain a healthy dose of fuckall if you defend a base). Facility skirmishes would last for DAYS at some points. The Empires would be warring over ten continents, six caves and 4 isles, not all stuck around the fucking Crown, grinding for XP and Certs. The metagame must be padded out more before it can call itself Planetside 2, and not WHIEIOWHIEOLOLBATTLEFIELD LAZORPEWPEW.

Which brings me to my next gripe. I have to admit SOE, the game looks amazing. It's a real fucking shame it runs at 5 fps for me constantly. Yes, my computer is a pile of feces, but every user, every player, reports major bugs when playing this game. I mean, come on, you're using a DX9 32-bit system to run this. In 2013. What.

Finally, the P2W. It's not that bad here. Really, it isn't. You can grind for Certs instead of paying, an everything stays forever. But you have to stop the business practise of releasing a weapon, then nerfing it after a few weeks to make way for MORE weapons, and continuing the cycle. If my Lancer gets nerfed...the QQ will be immense.

Also, stop listening to the CODkids on the forums. They got the tanks nerfed into the dirt, and ESFs (fighter planes) into the ground. STOP LISTENING TO THEM, I WANT TO CLIMB HILLS IN MY HOVERTANK.

Yet despite all these gripes, I will still continue to play Planetside 2. Though it's usually one big slideshow, occasionally it surprises me. On the 20th of March, I had an amazing battle with my outfit against a super-large tank column heading to capture the base we had just took control of. They never expected the bridge would be mined. Or that there'd be a forest of rockets with their names on at the other end. Good times.

Because of the (admittedly) fun gameplay, I will give it a 6/10. Unless SOE decide to fuck the game in the ass and discard it like an abused stepchild, I will support them. But not with real money. Because they're thieves.

This game is a pile of P2W feces where the game devs have gone "LOLCOD" and fucked up a otherwise OK-ish concept.

As many of you know, a payphone has a better chance of running a game than my banged-up laptop. So not only did I have to set everything to low, it run at a smoot 15 fps, and every 10 seconds drops to 5 fps while replacing my audio with the sound bubble wrap makes as you smash it to a pulp.

The gameplay is essentially COD with a few niche elements thrown in: HRS visor lets you wallhack, Hardpoints is just a guy in Power Armour (which fucking no one uses), and that's about it. Just run, shoot, and die.

The weapon customisation is where the bad bits start to flow in. Weapon options, every single fucking weapon option with which you customize yourself and stand out from the default starting crowd, needs to be bought. With REAL. MONEY. Oh sure, you can grind up free game money, but then it's much more expensive, for TRIAL 1 DAY VERSIONS.

Jesus Christ, devs, have you no shame? When I buy a silencer, I want to KEEP that silencer, not for the company to whisk it away from my hands, shaking their heads, wagging their fingers, and ruslting their money bags. This type of business practise disgusts me. At least in Planetside 2, I get to keep the attachment/weapon.

1/10. Never again.

this game is nothing, NOTHING, without the restored content mod that adds two years worth of shit Bioware left out, and THE MOD WILL NOT INSTALL.

Jesus Christ on a flaming Catherine Wheel.

This game is CREEPY.

The game, taking place in the half-dead Wonderland of the now wacko Alice, is as batshit insane as the title suggests. Combat is gory, and brutal, and the enenies are disturbing as shit. Platforming is solid, and fun. Collectibles are hard to find, and are satisfying to...er, collect. However, the star of the show is the art design. The game is quite simply gorgeous. From the dead city of the Insane Children to the Steampunk nightmare that is the Hatter's Domain, the game really does look like something pulled from the mind of a schizophrenic. Combined with the beautiful violin music, this game would move me to tears if I could produce them. But there are numerous texture glitches and framerate skips between different zones, and have cost me time when fighting THAT FUCKING EXECUTIONER. That is the only downside however.

I rate it a solid 9/10.

Hoo boy.

This game has an unparalleled sense of scope, and some of the best background for a shooter I've ever read/heard/seen. The cityscape itself is breathtaking, and as a fan of Decopunk I loved exploring its depthsand looking out of viewports to see the sealine.

The game is tense the whole way through, and the Splicers are devious. The Medical Pavilion and Fort Frolic made me knee-jerk aplenty. The combat is very good, having to switch between your supportive Plasmids and your damaging guns, and you can turn your character into a spliced-up maniac with ease. However, the star of the show is the story. The best plot twist in forever, and left me flapping in the wind. The only problem I had with the game was the sound issues, where they would keep cancelling each other out and the music refused to play.

Nevertheless I rate this a solid 9.5/10. Now, would you kindly buy this game?

For a SourceMod game, this looks utterly beautiful, and it's hard not to just simply walk through the map and take in the beauty of the game's graphics. It's on par with games such as Portal 2 or Left 4 Dead 2.

The shooting is chunky and satisfying, and with a wide array of weapons and classes to choose from, you're guaranteed that your style of fighting will be filed, be it holding the line with chainguns to scouting ahead and backstabbing unaware enemies.

The strategy element is fast-some of the fastest RTS gameplay I've ever experienced. You have to rely on your grunts to capture resources, defend high-value positions and eliminate enemy bases, while they too rely on you to express mail them to the front lines, deliver supplies, support them in the field, issue orders for more XP, securing areas, and so on and so forth. It requires skill to play as a Commander, which fustrating as it is when a newbie such as myself takes the reins, is something to be appreciated.

9/10

This was a staple of my late childhood, and I loved every minute of it. back then. When i saw it going cheap, I enthusiastically snapped it up.

My oh my, it has not aged well.

The graphics, though good for their time, look clunky and messy today. very messy. The game crashes on an almost clockwork basis, and usually you have to frequent the forums to understand exactly why it cannot find Steam. Unless you set it to the precise graphical requirements, the game will not run. And the resolution will keep resetting.

However, the gameplay is excellent. Brilliant A.I, fast paced though short campaign, and revolutionary squad based tactics that leave similar shooters crawling in the mud easily make up for the technical errors. The first chapter of the spaceship mission is bloody terrifying, and made me jump. The multiplayer is...average, mediocre.

6/10, I rate it. Sorry old boy.

Chunky shooting, good music, tense atmosphere, nice level up system and money system as well.

The only thing I don't like about it are the FUCKING COCKNEY ACCENTS.

This is very, very complicated to get your head round. and it has a pretty slow framerate.
2012년 3월 4일 @ 10:59am
Hurm.

On one hand, unless it's running at low specs, the game crashes faster than the planes on 9/11. The A.I is also thick as custard.

On the other hand, with Mass Effect style dialogues, Metal Gear style stealth,Resident Evil style ammo scarcity, ability to upgrade both your weapons and yourself to ridiculous levels, not to mention hacking, brutal takedowns (tap-tap "Yes? can I he-" WHAM), gorgeous graphics even at low-res, awesome music makes this one of my favourite games ever.

Right up there with KOTOR II, Heroes of Might and magic 3, Empire Earth and this Asterix game whose name escapes me.

The simple fact that there is effectively a player controlling the zombies (both the versus modes and the Director 2.0) makes this tense survival co-op run and gun epic.

Especially with booming rock music.
