Nice music.

Friendly AIs could be smarter. Maybe not stand around when they don't have ammo, drop the gun and pick up another weapon? Or maybe pistol whip the ♥♥♥♥ out of an enemy. It was very anti-climatic towards the end when three AIs look at you when all hell is breaking loose and you have to carry them.
Controller aiming could be different, or at least have an option to change sensitivity.
Controller function with remote play-together could work.

Not featuring toe-mar as a selectable character.

The PC control scheme is based on a earlier project most likely dating back mid 2010's. It has slightly improved.

A lot of dialogue. I'm not sure if anyone asked for it but there's some lore in there, especially for a guy who went crazy in Nevada to some funky beats.

I really hate the team AI. Makes me wish I could too lay down my boom box and bash their knees in and watch them die, because they can't.

Best part was the Tricky boss, watch my a fellow team mate fall off the dropping platform and I never felt relieved to see that lazy ♥♥♥♥ die.

May have spoilers
Is the game playable? Yes.
Is the game beatable? Maybe.

The bugs are more scarier than the game. Don't know if the next bug will softlock the game and make it unbeatable and have to restart the entirety of it.

I don't think it's scary. Then again I don't see the age rating on the store page, had to look it up and yes it is the ESRB T rating.

There's a great amount of detail in the map design. A lot of it made me wish the props were interactive. I don't get the point in the collection of items in game since the majority don't have a use but there are small upgrades to stamina, speed, and battery for exploring the area. They are just kinda neat to look at but that's it.

A lot of good artwork.

The music... yeah... there was one good track, then it's low ambient symph tones from there on out.

I got bored of back tracking a lot. I spent most of the gameplay time backtracking after every upgrade for collectibles (Wasn't sure if they had a bigger impact on the ending). The travel time between areas is a little unbearable after the midpoint of the game.

Difficulty. It's basic. You never really feel pressured for staying in an area for too long and why would you when you need to read them collectibles?

I was questioning how Freddy starting looking trashed after an hour in since he walked from one lobby to the main hall. I'm sure there's some lore?

Optimization. It was definitely aimed at consoles first so... if you're looking at buying this give it a couple weeks for them to figure out that sliders is not a fix all. In the meantime use your video's card control panel to manually tweak settings for a more playable experience or tweak the ini file in the appdata folder. I screech everytime I see a game use only 4gb when I have 20gb+ free on RAM.

Bugs: Oh boy.
•You can use Freddy when exiting and entering the suit to bypass invisible walls that block you from entering certain areas before you had the correct items.
•You can speed bonny hop. (No updrages needed)
•You can recycle the security office challenge for additional security upgrades. This has the potential of softlocking the game and most areas will not have security bots.
•Some textures get blurry up close. LOD on reverse.
•Reflection rending favors high resolution on the corners of the screen. Again another case of LOD on reverse.
•Sometimes getting caught will do nothing, because the main animatronics get stuck in random places.
•If you perform said softlock in bullet point 3, none of the other security office challenges will work correctly, infact you will see it skip the event entirely.

My impression of this game is that someone had a really neat concept, artwork, and map and character design, but then that's it. I feel that's where most of the focus went. It's a little hard to see where the 70-80gb came from unless it is really just uncompressed files that probably wouldn't have made much of a significance if they compressed the images a bit. (Really my guess is that there's was another game under this one with old files that were used as a template/prefab and was never removed.)

There's a lot of areas in the game that are plainly empty and you think there would be some kind of jumpscare or animatronic hiding, there isn't. There was a lot of lull moments and I was thinking majority of the time, am I really in danger? Am I being hunted down by these people searching every corner the place to find a child in a extreme version of hide and go seek? No. No I wasn't.

The way the game is set up and feels like this should of been an opportunity to just make this a multiplayer game. Or was that idea scrapped halfway through?

Either way if you read this little rant and basic prodding at the devs then hats off to ya. So let me answer some basic questions that only a random stranger on the internet can tell ya:
Is the game fun? Vast majority of the time, no.
Is the game scary? Can you stomach horror movies? If Yes, then no. Afraid of Clowns and simple loud noises? If Yes, then yes.
Should I get this game? *Wait 2-3 weeks. (I'm not going to change the review later to reflect updates to the game.)
Should I get this to add to my FNAF collection? Doesn't matter what I say we all know you're going to buy it.

Would I recommend this game? If I could I would label this as a hard maybe. It's sitting between boring to interesting and the only thing this game is praying on at the moment is it's visuals and the need/addiction to collect items.

It was ok. Something to point out is that whenever Devolver Digital touches a game there's some completely unnecessary stuff:

1. Back pedaling/tracking - I've seen this in three different games and it's fine if there's fast travel but it makes the game artificially longer than it needs to be.

2. Psych, it's not the end - Happens way too often. You can max out your items before getting to the final boss only to realize there's a second parallel/inverse world but now your items are max and you go back to the first problem, back tracking. To get the true ending without any sort of additional gameplay additives/mechanics and it just feels like a drag to carry on. Other examples of this are the Sword of Ditto and The Messenger. Hiding a single story element behind a long grind feels more like a giant middle finger than an accomplishment.

3. Reskinned Enemies - Making your enemies slightly tougher and slightly faster is normally ok. Doing it for nearly the entire game, not so much. Granted there were NPCs that used other NPCs’ attacks with varied results, but once you've seen one in a area then it gets old seeing it again in the next area.
I have occasionally seen an enemy that wasn't part of the main portion of the game (before the psych ending) and wondered why it wasn't used to help reduce the monotony moving between areas?

Gameplay hours to meet a quota- If the gameplay doesn't support replay-ability, doesn't introduce anything unique or interesting, or introduce new concepts to basics. Don't bother making the game longer for the sake of appeasing a statistic. Don't use Problem 3, 2, and 1. Some games are meant to be short and sweet.

If these problems seem like they have a theme to them, they do. Castlevania syndrom, or some kind of wanna-be version. Followed by the overt issue of pacing.

That being said...

The Story was ok. (I'll never know that true ending though because, again, not a fan of the backtracking everywhere.)

The combat was between sluggish and arcady. The increased stats made it feel like that was the game's initial settings before it was made sluggish. There was a mechanic for deflecting shots and I am sad to see it wasn't explored further.

The music was ok. It is the same set but changed slightly to reflect different areas. It is a very neutral melody.

Artistically speaking the game looked nice and stuck to its theme fairly well. The colors choices are done right and it seemed to focus on monitors with not a large color range so visually it is consistent.
Technically speaking the game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hates Nvid driver 457.30 and runs hot. The other hand, 471.41 improved optimizations and ran cooler, however stuttering became present. Because stuttering is more annoying than a loud gpu, I ran 457.30 at a lower resolution. (It’s a 2080) There’s no terms in finessing the settings when it came to what filters they used for ambient occlusion or anti-aliasing.

Difficulty... If I didn’t run with only an umbrella I would assume it would be too damn easy. Did die a couple of times, caught off guard by a boss or mini bbeg. Mileage varies.

So last thoughts, is the game worth $20? The game is mildly fun and most ~assuredly will kill time. Those two things are not mutually inclusive. It is at least nice to look at and has a mild profound idea on what death means. (Again a missed opportunity to explore the concept of death in a possible gameplay mechanic.)
Wouldn’t buy it for a kid with a short attention span. More for casual play.

First off, if you got any other version before this one, you're not missing out on anything.
Game reused a lot of assets and even if you bought the full game only two characters are new.
The rest is behind a DLC paywall. Only two to three new backgrounds.

Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment cheapens the victories in arcade.

There's currently issues with PS4 controller compatibility from what I hear but not a big deal if you prefer xbox/switch/custom.

Story mode adds nothing. Watch 3 chapters and my god there's a lot of "spectator talk" going on. There was ONE action scene in chapter 2 but it was a chase scene and it ended abruptly as it started. I'm sure if anyone had seen any of the other story arcs then this is nothing new.

This is not worth the asking price. I've got it on sale and I'm glad I did otherwise it was a bigger lose.

Left-click

Pick a two-handed sword then left-click.

Combo to swing faster, left-click as you left-click.

Chamber is a charged parry this is a passive effect, which allows you attack immediately, to do this, left-click.

Do not worry if an opponent is using a one handed weapon, just left-click and they cannot follow up with their own left-click.

Just remember to keep your left-click center between chest and stomach, they cannot dodge it via jumping nor ducking.

Sick of left-clicking and decide to take it up a notch? Pick archer, and try your aim out, and slowly left-click.

Find a shield baby walking around, press F to pay respects for honoring the old system.

Is left-clicking killing your team? Customize your character to reduce damage by half when you left-click.

If you really want to piss people off, pick up dagger and wheel up to stab'em! Combo stab'em to make them feel inadequate about left-clicking. Got a fancy Logitech mouse? Unhinge the wheel and rev up for total pwnage.

Couple Warnings: first-person view is slower when swinging than third-person and despite how it looks when the weapon connects with a player, it only stabs/damages at the cross-hair.
Dodging cannot put enough distance between you and anyone using a two-handed, don't try it; you will only get punished harshly with some form of decapitation.
Arrow paths/tracer is not synced with server. This fairly obvious on turrets and ballistas against horses and certain still target.

It's lacking maps, after playing the same five it gets old.

IF YOU HAVE Chivalry, I don't actually recommend this game.

Gameplay: Ok. There are times when you get to play as different characters. The game initially had weight on every item but that's been removed. Oils, potions, bombs only need to be crafted once and refills when waiting. You are not limited to one fighting style but it will seem that way for a good part in the beginning of the game, especially on higher difficulties.

Soundtrack: Good during fights, annoying to hear the same 1-2 tracks during travel, and there's other tracks based on story but almost never hear them.

Graphics: OK, I remember the foliage having self shadows, they removed it for obvious reasons. I would recommend a mod or two if you feel like it could look "better".

Controls: Use a controller. Walking around it weird but not as bad as it was originally.

Difficulty: There's a weird curve depending on which option you choose. If you played any of the previous games you know you can't go into a fight without Quen (shielding spell). On higher difficulties, even if your dodging and blocking is on par the fights are extremely long due to the boost of armor, hp, and resistances. Most cases you would need armor piercing and lot of patience. Enemies don't give as much XP as completing quests and on higher difficulties it seems that is the only way to level.

Story: Tis alright for a bunch of Wazzacks. If you have previous saves from other games, they will have an impact on this game... Or you can make stuff up when you start for the first time. There's no wright or wrong, just blood, sex, angry sex, and baby throwing.

Early Access Review
It has potential, but there's so much down time when all the other teams are dead and at most only two bounties appear? It would make more sense if teams could just spawn in as long as there are bounties around. Monsters are not even real threats.

If you play this, you need to use compatibility mode on Windows 7 + Administrator. Game is CPU bound.
