Call of Duty: MW2 is a direct sequel to the award winning and hugely successful "COD4". In MW2, we continue the story of "Soap" and Cpt. Price, as events between the U.S and Russia unfold, as well as their pursuit for Makarov.
The Good
- Singleplayer. Follows on from COD4. Is action packed, features new styles of gameplay, new weapons, gadgets, and a wide variety of playable characters and settings.
- Multiplayer. Although some perks are "over-powered" or "n00bish", it is generally rewarding and fun.
- Spec Ops. Although limited in variety, it is great co-op fun!
- Soundtrack. Very well crafted and suited for the title.
The Bad
- Graphics. Looking a bit old now, re-using the same game engine.
- Audio Quality. The music is great, but the sound effects are dissapointing.
- Killstreak perks. Rewards players with almost unbeatable weapons (nukes and AC-130's, come on...)
DRIVER San Fransisco is an open-world racer that bring something new to the table. An ability called "shifting" allows players to control any vehicle in the game world. This grants players to drive over 140 real-world vehicles in single and multiplayer.
The Good:
- Singleplayer: A respectable story line with hundreds of side missions. Story missions will take 8+ hours in total to complete, however playing story missions only is a huge disservice to the game.
- Graphics: Clean and detailed, a good lookin' racer
- Shift: A new and functional ability
- Multiplayer: Many modes, vehicles and fun
The Bad
- Multiplayer lobby: This is the open-world multiplayer setting. Persistent on screen prompts can be annoying and can not be turned off. Also, vechicle diversity is reduced.
- Ubisoft servers & friends listing: Invited players do not recieve notfications, long server connection times.
Overall, a great game for any DRIVER / racing fan.
Grand Theft Auto 4 is set in modern day New York. A migrant seeking a new life in the "land of opportunity". The GTA series has been a staple in the open-world "sandbox" series, and GTA IV does not dissapoint.
The Good:
- Graphics: This 2008 release still looks respectable, especially with the avaliable visual enhancement mods.
- Storyline: A lengthy, self-pace story means you get your moneys worth, and don't feel rushed whilst playing
- Audio: A huge variety of music and comedy is avaliable through in-game radio
- Vehicles: Throttle control, braking, damage and handling is very good. Large variety, cars, trucks, boats and helicopters.
- Multiplayer: Stacks of game modes, including free roam. Upto 24 player support.
- Controller support: A must for a game such a GTA
- Attention to detail: From people flying through windscreens after collisions, to dented trash cans, dynamic lighting, reactive damage textures, GTA IV delivers here.
The Bad:
- Poor optimisation. Even a BEAST computer will stutter at times during play. A shame Rockstar did not address this issue with a successful patch.
