When I first booted up From Dust, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I thought maybe it would be like a game called Black and White which is a generic God game I quite liked. However, From Dust isn't based on building a community and helping spread your people; rather, it's based on preventing natural disasters by the means of deforming the terrain and using powers to enhance villages (eg. Grant a village the ability to repel water/lava). Imagine you're on a beach with an awesome sand castle. However, the god damn ocean keeps washing away the base of it, so you have to build a wall to prevent it. Now imagine just when you think that water wall is finished, a god damn ocean of lava comes knocking on your castle's back door. From Dust is a very challenging and unique game with flawless nature simulation with little drawbacks. These drawbacks would include: NPC villagers being dumb as f#$% when it comes to finding a path over the terrain, and village creation being quite picky.
It's actually a really good game. Even for a movie rip off game. :D
