I am NOT a nerd, I'm a GAMER!
I participated in the beta for the game, and I must say it is an awesome FPS. It focuses more on realism in terms of gameplay and pacing than todays CoD clones, and features brilliant gunplay. The graphics are very good, and contribute to a realistic and gritty portrail of WWII through not covering the maps with dust and smoke and other silly graphical effects. It is very realistic, with most shots killing immediately, which is a nice change of pace from most shooters.
The game is not without its bugs, being developed by a fairly small studio and being so soon after release, but I didn't have any issues myself. Some people have reported poor performance, but I think they may just be a vocal minority.
Tripwire has a history of good support for their games, and there is no doubt that additional free content will be added in the future, instead of them putting out $15 map packs like certain other companies.
With all of the above, I believe that RO2 is definitely a game worth getting
Been following this game for a while now, and I must say, it's living up to all my expectations. It's got randomised dungeons with 10 levels, loads of skills, a fun crafting system, and also doesn't take itself too seriously. The humour really is good, and some of the item and enemy descriptions made me laugh.
For people who don't know what "roguelike" implies, it is basically a turn based (enemies move when you move/attack after you attack) dungeon crawler. The game is full of traps and loot, with stores on each level.
So far I've got about 4 hours down, and I haven't managed to pass the second level of a dungeon. The game in unforgiving, but games of this genre are meant to be challenging. Even the tutorial tells you that the game is about doing better each playthrough rather than just plain winning.
I basically give this game my full recommendation to anyone who is remotely interested. If it sounds like a game you think you could enjoy, go for it.
TF2 was more than worth playing even before it was free, and I highly recommend you play it now that it is free.
While i may not be keen on the recent focus on hats and the in-game store, they are actually fairly easy to ignore. It's full of variety, get's brilliant support, and is just generally a lot of fun.
