"The Calamity gave us something else... A story. That may not sound like much... Well, wait 'til you hear it."

They aren't kidding. I have never experienced a story like this. At the end of the game, I was given a choice. And I spent several minutes staring at the screen, considering, trying to decide. I finally made my decision. And watched the end of the game. And watched the credits. All with a heavy heart, wondering if I had made the RIGHT decision.

No game has ever made me feel this way. Never.

Oh, and it`s a heck of a lot of fun to play, too.

Beat Hazard is one of those games that I picked up because it was cheap and had and could earn me something for the summer sale promotion. I was extremely pleased to find out how much fun it was. I've had a blast playing it, even using the music provided with the game (I'll be starting on my own music collection soon, though).

About the game: start by thinking of the arcade classic Asteroids, where you can fly in one direction while shooting in another. Now add enemy spaceships with a variety of interesting and complex behaviours, several interesting and challenging bosses, power-ups, special weapons, a well-thought progress system (including the ability to use points earned while playing to "purchase" upgrades), and some customization for your special abilities. All together, it creates a game with a broad variety of play experiences and endless replay value.

Great for high adrenaline play or relaxation. Get it!

I enjoyed Defense Grid more than almost any other game in my library. The voice acting for the "AI" who guides you through your missions is spectacular, and transforms this better-than-average tower defense game into an unforgettable journey through a fascinating future. There is a great deal of variety in the maps, and a lot of opportunity for a cunning strategist like me to exercise his brain.
