Mmm, pie.
Avatar is some Halloween Costume I have worn in a previous year or something.

I would not recommed this as a game. There is not really any gameplay to speak of, it is more a animation that you have to click through to read the story, there is next to no player agency. I found that there are games in recent memory that have brought me to tears, like The Walking Dead and this did not achieve anywhere near that level of impact. I think I understand the difference, that had good voice acting, human facial expressions, and the choices (see player agency) I didn't make made the ones I did make all the more important. I went in expecting a game and was thus thoroughly unentertained in such a manner, I hope this review helps you to not make the same mistake and just enjoy this for what it is, a delightful story, that personally will probably soon forget. I don't think I will take any interest if there is to be a sequel.
This is a gem of rogue-like design, so many hidden treasures to find within, the joys of risk taking met with the certainty of defeat not necissarily be because of random numbers but the decissions you make with your crew, the scrap, and your ship - you make your own fate, as harsh as it is. Such a blast to play, why aren't you already?
Would I reccomend someone play this? You probably already have a good idea if you want to play this but if you are just crawling out from under a rock, this is a good place to go to realize your fantasy of alternate history of the world from a very high level perspective. I particularily enjoy the use of the hexes and one type of unit per hex, makes for some interesting strategic decisions. MP in the past had some problems but for the most part those are resolved, the AI is still either a bunch of back stabbing bastards or dumber than a box of rocks. I highly recommend Giant Multiplayer Robot (GMR) to enhance the MP experience which sort of adds back in a PBEM system, so you can be a bit more relaxed in playing these long games with friends as you travel back in time and change history in bizarre and fantastic ways ... and make some Giant Death Robots already!
