This game is fun for Trekkie fans and it is fun... for a while. After you hit Level 50, it becomes a grind fest for prisitige, dilithium, and special sets. The story is decent, and the controls are good, but after a while, it gets old. And there is almost NO content for the Klingon side and Cryptic/Perfect World has stated they have NO plans to add any Kilngon content.

If you like MMOs like WoW and FF11, you'll like this, but if you hate grindfests, steer clear.

EDIT: Finally, I have time for a proper review! This review is during the recent release of Delta Rising expansion.

Graphics:
The graphics are quite good. Not as good as mmos like TERA or Final Fantasy XIV, but they are good. The graophic options also let people with less powerful machines play. I know, I used to run off of an INTEGRATED gfx card! There is some slight pop-ups in large enviroments. There is some lag in areas with a large amount of players (Undine Battlezone sometimes slows to a slideshow when many people are there), but most of the time, the game runs fine.

Sound:
The sound effects are good and the retro weapon's sound effects (like the Type 2 Phaser and The Retrofit Phaser Arrays) are faithfully recreated, but there are a limited number of songs that play and after a while, and they are quite bland so they will get annoying after a while.

Control:
The control is quite competant with keyboard and mouse and that is what I would reccomend for playing. There are FAR too many buttons required to effectivly play on a gamepad. With keyboard/mouse, you can set your many skills to keybindings with an easy skill try and can even set to fire weapons individualy or set to all fire at once and autofire in space. On ground, you can switch between rpg combat control and fps controls, and both are fun and easy, and with a few clicks, you can issue orders to your away teams. But sometimes, skils won't activate when clicked, leading to problems during tense combat situations.

Gameplay:
The missions are out together like a typical episode of Star Trek, which several small objectives put together with abundant story, be it with combat, gathering or other science objectives. Missions usually last about an hour and are fun! And when you're done with the game's main story arcs (or just want to take a break from the story), you can play Foundry (user-created) missions! The issue is that getting end game gear is VERY grind heavy. You must grind for marks, dilithium (dilithium or one of the game's FOUR currencies) and a component to get access and free players may only refine 8000 dil a day. And with the recent DR expansion, the components are now almost impossible to get. Still, even with that, it is still fun to play this game.

So yes, if you are a Trekkie (or Trekker) or just a general sci-fi nerd, give this game a go! But if you don't like heavy grinding, you may wanna give it a pass.
