RAGE is ID's latest game using their latest ID Tech 5 game engine. The game tells the story of the aftermath of an asteroid hitting the Earth.

The visuals were outstanding, the locations the player visits were extremely detailed, and the combat is very satisfying.

But is the game good? Eh, kind of. The game stops short of being something great, and instead falls flat in the areas where it felt like it shouldn't have, like the shallow plot, and the short game length.

I can understand why ID wanted to make a game like this. It wasn't just run and gun like all their previous games, it allows the player to take on missions and assignments, race around in post-apocalyptic cars, visit the ruins of post civilization and so on.

This was a good effort by ID because it's something they've never done before in their studio. But... we've already seen this game before. Fallout 3 & Borderlands covered all this.

Should ID try again with RAGE 2 if they so choose? Yes.

But for now, 7 out of 10.
