Penumbra Overture is a true horror survival game with a deep and unique storyline. You play as the Character of Philip who recieves a letter from his father which he has never met to go to a bank and open a his fathers vault and burn all the documents. Naturally human nature gets the better of you and you set out to find your father. You then descend into a chaotic fight for survival in underground mine/bunker in greenland where horrific things dwell.
DO NOT get this game if you are expecting to kill everything in sight as the only real weapon you have is a pickaxe which is not the best weapon. Taking on more than one enemy in the game with it is quite literally suicide. Attacking one at a time you have a chance as long as you dont screw up.
Its a brilliant and realistic puzzle solver and will more often than not will leave you scrathcing your head wondering what to do. The physics engine as plays a big part in this game.
A must have for Puzzle solvers and Horror fans.
A survival horror unlike no other. If you prefer games where the objective is to survive rather than just running around blasting away creeps get this game. It provides an excellent atmosphere and your heart is sure to start pounding at certain parts. There is also a possibility that your character cant take the horrors he is seeing. Becareful though if your character decsends into madness and is equipped with a firearm he will shoot himself. My score is 8/10
The only major downfall of this game is the bug that causes the game to crash. So far I know of no fixes for this other than changing the resolution everytime it crashes. It seems to only want to crash at certain points in the game. One crash being at the very start so this game will need alot of paitence from you as it will crash often at the start.
This game is a must have for those who love rpgs. Its got so many hours of gameplay that you sure to be kept busy for a good few weeks. It also provides quite a bit of challenge and everything you do ingame affects how the games story will play out. The main and the side stories are all brilliant and exactly what you would expect to find in a fantasy world such as this one. 9/10
