Turn based tactical strategy game. Matches are usualy 8 turns long. Plot your soldiers movements and attacks, submit them and watch to see how well your plans went. Very flexable multiplayer setup. Virtualy play by email, when each player submits their plan for the turn the outcome is calculated and they can both begin plotting the next turn. I've had 8 games running at a time with 5 different people, 1 game played over the course of a couple of days and 6 games going on at once with the same person. Typicaly if you're both online at the same time though matches take 5-10 minutes. :-P
Alot of fun.
A faithful computerisation of the tabletop game with optional extra content added. Team management for with lots of team races favouring countless strategies, rpg character advancement for your players, sponsor and player contract negotiations, underhanded dealings (dope your players, sabotage your opponents), and the best turn based full combat grid iron game system developed. All his is available for multiplayer with your teams growing in strength in official and player run online leagues. Fantasy football at it's finest.
You can ignore the real time mode though, it's crap... But no one plays it anyway. Just about everything else about this game is polished and worthwhile.
The best first person sneaker ever made. The thief series has always been acclaimed for it's excellent writing and opening up a new genre of gameplay. It's one thing to call a game atmospheric and it's another for the game to really suck you into it's world. Deadly shadows is the third game in the series and it represent the peak of many aspect of the stealth genre.
The game still follows a progression of missions which take place on their own seperate levels, but now between each mission they are connected by a somehwat persistant city hub which brings a greater element of role playing to the game. Wander the streets in your downtime and relieve the people of town of their more petty possesions. Do some side quests. Eliminate some anoyances.
It's worth pointing out that if you try to play theif like a regular action game and charge off into direct combat you will bring down 2... Maybe 3 opponents, then it's game over. If you want to be a badass, do it from the shadows.
