My thief got turned into a bear on the second level, so I had to play as a bear for the rest of the run. Proceeded to maul to shreds everything in my way. 10/10 would (bear) smash again.

Devs made a game about dice, consistently use the plural form as singular. They then proceed to make a joke in the game about how "douse" might be the singular form (like mouse - mice). You'd expect they'd think to pick up a dictionary, at some point!

I love the concept of this game, and I would have so loved if it had gotten more polish. Every time I see it in my library, I think of the fun I had with it, and I want to go back to it. But then I remember all the jank, and I quickly move on. It feels like teenage romance: incredibly exciting but hella awkward at times.

It's pretty meh after a few hours, unless you count the 186 ridiculous "achievements" as content. The concept is fun and quirky but there are other, waaay more interesting deckbuilders.

Early Access Review
First seen played by RCE, this game has a simple concept that is very well executed, although there is more depth to it than you might think. It feels a lot like Bad North, with its minimalist graphics and mechanics. The quests and perks system do a good job of encouraging you to take a new approach to the same level, or to perfect an established strategy.

My main point of criticism would be that some of the quests are too difficult to complete, or that the balance is off. It's not necessarily that they are difficult that irks me, it's that they sometimes require one specific set of perks and a very specific chain of maneuvers to win. There is so little margin of error left, then, that finding the solution on your own becomes excruciatingly tedious. It becomes less a matter of finding the right strategy (leaving room to maneuver), and more a puzzle that has only one right answer. And then I'm forced to look to youtubers to find this answer, because I can't spend countless hours grinding like that.

Although it did not have the tag for me, this is in fact a roguelike deckbuilder, like the infamous Slay the Spire. The combat system, however, is very different, as it incorporates a grid. As such, and given it's art and level style, you may find it very reminiscent of a decent little RTT game called John Wick Hex - especially if you factor in the gunplay from the dlc.
I think, in the end, the deckbuilder is the superior game, as its mechanics add a lot to the experience.
All in all, this game very much deserves its praise.

Very decent tower defense. Although it has a little trouble balancing the weapons - like a lot of other tower defense games -, the rng does somewhat mitigate this. The different kinds of modifiers really makes things interesting, and, in that sense, its roguelite aspects shine. Replayability is good.
For non-Chinese speakers, you will find the instructions to change the language in the Steam discussions. The translation is a little challenging, at times, but just a little patience will see you through.
Because this game relies heavily on numbers, it's annoying to find that the spawned monsters' hp doesn't always match what's promised, even though there are no modifiers active. I'm not sure why this is but it makes planning at higher difficulties unreliable, so you really just need to look at how far the monsters get each round, and base your expectations off the relative promised hp.

I feel very strongly that there is a lot of potential left untapped here, or that there is potential that I'm simply not able to see through all the different menus and game modes. And I'm confused as to why there isn't simply a "normal" game mode.
I enjoyed the game modes I've played but I just can't seem to get into it much more, even though I'm curious about the game mechanics I haven't tried..

The game itself is fairly simple but it's very well executed. It's challenging, the random generation adds much variety, and you have a decent amount of ways you can use and upgrade your units. It takes some practice to pick up on some of the more subtle tactics, counters, and maneuvers but your efforts are rewarded.

This game caters well to teens, given its themes and difficulty level. For the older or more experienced turn-based tactics player, I can recommend this for when you're craving to scratch the itch but don't have a lot of energy. It's often very close to feeling like a puzzle game but, thankfully, does not really cross that line.
