Snarky, fresh, humorous, and shameless, this game is brilliantly written, and even more brilliantly delivered. Glad to see it on Steam, as the original was six discs, and I've misplaced a few...
You play a character known only as "The Bard", the ultimate anti-hero. He has no regard for anyone, and is only out for himself. He uses music to summon his unlikely sidekicks, like an old man who disarms traps by throwing himself into them! Along his way he ruins everyones lives, and dooms the world, all the while shedding not a tear.
A must play!
It's like this game tried to be Legend of Zelda and missed. Good concept, interesting story, but the controls (especially the camera) and the difficulty curve make that story an uphill battle. Voices are good though. Asthetics are appealing, even if the graphics are a bit clunky (almost FFVII era).
Bastion is the culmination of artistic love and effort. It does everything right, and maybe only one thing could use some polish that I can think of, but it's so minor, not even worth mentioning.
First up is the art style. Its water color style is fluid, and is both easy on the eyes and beautiful to behold. It fits the world perfectly, and is so well done.
Next is the audio. Perfect. From the crushing of your hammer to the western-techno soundtrack, it's blended amazingly just like the rest of this game.
The key item is the story. Superbly original, and with a sexy narrator that never repeats himself in his context-sensitive narration, you'll find yourself drawn in from the "Play" button.
10/10 - Supergiant Games is on it's way to being the next Double Fine Productions.
