So you take Risk, instead of straight troops have money and manpower, add more provinces, add diplomacy, add stability, add research, add different troop types/composition and generals, add terrain penalties and bonuses, add inflation and colonisation.
Okay, so you take Total War and remove the annoying real time battles and make everything else better. Mmmm! The expansions DO add a lot (epecially HTTT, well worth it IMO) and I don't know if I'd recommend it without them.
But oh right the recommendation: at the start its complicated, its confusing and its easy to lose but after 200 hours I wouldn't have it any other way. Talk to me if you need an EU3 tutor! Cheap hourly rates! :D
This game has flaws, yes- but it remains one of the most enjoyable games I've played in years. Its a fabulous game!
Om nom nom. Bit short and the stories okay but the great game mechanics make up for it. Play the demo.
