If i died and was born again,
i would play every single hour back,
i would try to meet all the people i've met,
i would try to laugh all the laughs i've laughed,
and i would definitely enjoy every single minute, all over again.

This is the game that gave me the best experiences and friends i've had in my entire life, and i will never forget that. Please play it, you will not regret it, even if there's random crits, hackers or you just lose, getting to know great people makes every second worth it.

I have been waiting for this DLC! And after trying out all the updated maps i can confidently say it's been worth the wait.
I was surprised to see it was so cheap btw, it is an absolute bargain at that price and it's a must-have for any FPV fan, even if you are not very interested in chasing cars. I haven't unlocked the new skins still, but they look pretty cool!

Congratulations and thanks to the LuGus team!.

PD: I have only found one minor glitch (post-race camera glitches into the ground for some reason), i will report it in the discussion boards if nobody has done so already.

OLD REVIEW:

After learning how to fly a drone thanks to this game, and later spending hundreds of hours trying to get better a it, I think i'm finally ready to give a fair review of Liftoff. I started without a very good understanding about drones, so i tried all the alternatives available in the PC drone sim market and found Liftoff to be the most convincing in terms of physics, graphics, UI, ease of use, features, maps, etc. I was not dissapointed at all, and started practicing... A lot. And a lot...

Where it shines the most is the community's involvement, people can share drones, configs, custom maps through the Workshop and it works great! BUT it's still a little bit on the limited side (you can't import external map files of any format, you can only place some props, basic shapes with basic textures on top of the base maps". Don't get me wrong, the map creators are awesome and some people have managed to create wonderful maps anyway, so we can only dream about what they could do with better tools. A suggestion could be let players apply textures to the shapes (wood, metal, cement, plastic, windows, etc), create materials (stuff like simple water, lava, swamp), COLLECTABLES (there are many explorable maps). If that was possible i think the community would blow up in creativity and the game in popularity.

Personally i love the adition of "unusual" parts like the UFO one for example, that kind of customization is always welcomed and works wonders to motivate new players to play the game and old ones to keep flying (although i think the leveling system should totally reward points for free flight sessions (as they're the ones most people use to actually practice).

Graphics: Pretty nice, they are reminescent of old flight-sim, especially Pilotwings 64 (which i'm very fond of) so they do their job for me.

Sound: Simple, rudimentary, not very memorable soundtrack. I normally mute the music and listen to my own playlists.

UI: Needs A LOT of work. I understand this game was intended for VR, but this is the FLAT version. There are a lot of config options that are scattered around you so the layout is a cumbersome mess to navigate.

Gameplay: Fun little game but gets a little bit repetitive, as many missions are reminescent of old flight-sim challenges, it's just not enough for current industry standards.
The biggest problem and stone that weighs this game to the ground is the godawful controller support. I tried playing with an Xbox One controller without issues, but when i tried to use a flight-stick (which works perfectly with other flight-sims like FSX, HAWX, etc) it simply refused to recognize it's axis and map it's buttons as intended, i tried using the game's own remapping system without success.

I searched on Google about this issue and found a nonchalant 2019 dev's blog post about remapping controllers axis and buttons by editing the game's text config files... which was an instant turn-off for me. The saddest part is that it seems this is a pretty old issue devs never took the time to solve.

I am very sorry to NOT recommend this game, but i think that the best way to enjoy a flight-sim is with a FLIGHT-STICK and until devs fix that issue there will always be a better, more polished flight-sim out there (and if you need, you can always enjoy the good old days replaying the classic sims/games this one is based upon, with proper joystick support of course).

The graphics are vibrant, sharp and give a retro-styled feel. The sound design is good in general, but i think the music could get some more work, as it is not very engaging and it becomes repetitive after a few minutes.
The gameplay is easy to pick up and play, as the mechanics are extremely simple, maybe too much for it's own good... so i got bored fast and thought "is this it?".
I think this game should get a little bit more depth and ways to engage the player, more objectives to do, more maneuvers (like a way to control thrust to manually stall the plane for example) and it would be good if the game communicated better the objectives to the player, as it only states "kill these guys and collect money".
I get that the idea is for the game to be simple and minimalistic in essence, but with a presentation so pretty, the rest feels disappointing, like a very pretty good looking tech-demo (that you have to pay to play).

In conclusion, i'd like to see more of this game, and i sincerely think there is potential for something special here, but sadly there's just not enough content and gameplay to justify the admission price at the moment.

At it's current state, SPL is a game i can't really recommend... It's not very engaging, It's controls are unnecessarily clunky, the UI does not a good job telling the player where they are supposed to go or do, the gameplay is very barebones and monotonous, not offering nothing new in comparison to similar titles (which i won't mention in this review).

As a solo project, SPL is impressive, and i see a lot of potential in the ideas put together here. Sadly, i can't reccomend buying this game in it's current state at the current price, as there are better alternatives out there asking for a similar or even lower entry price.

I hope to see this game grow and get better and when that happens i'll be the first one here to change my review.
Until then SPL is a promising small solo project, but not much more than a proof of concept.

This game changed my vision about determination, and how i view challenges IRL and in-game, let me explain...
Celeste is a precision platformer that expects you to learn it's quirks: Slowly but steadily you will notice that almost every (if not all) screens can be cleared in multiple ways, giving every player freedom about how they will approach a new problem.

As you climb Celeste multiple times, you will get better at it. There is no other way to get better... You will fail, you will die, you will rage... But you will respawn almost instantly to try again, until you succeed.

After a few playthroughs it will not be about climbing the mountain anymore, it will be about climbing it faster, discovering Madeline's limits (and some pretty deep mechanics once you get the hang of how she controls and flows).

I won't spoil how, but you have a HUGE toolset at your disposal. It's MUCH bigger than the game initially makes you believe in your first playthrough (much like a little Nintendo party/fighting game you may have heard of for the Gamecube and it's "Wavedashing" mechanics).

This, is where i think, that Celeste shines, it's deep mechanics that are not afraid to reward skillful players, while at the same time give newcomers a steady learning curve to feel challenged and rewarded in increments.

What else can i say that hasn't been said, this game will always have a spot in my heart, not only it changed my life, it taught me that everyone has a personal mountain to climb, but it's your personal task to conquer the frustration, fear and rage not only to get to the top... but to enjoy the ride and show off your skills!

Enjoy your first climb, as it will never be the same after that...
It will only get better, every, single, time you get to the top.

This tool, even though it simplifies and streamlines the process of making a platformer, is extremely barebones and really needs some work for me to recommend it... Bear with me a little here:

I bought this game motivated by the trailers and it didn't live up to my expectations at all, it needs a lot more polish, specially in the mechanics you are allowed to introduce to the game.
My main problem is that in the trailers it showed you can import Mario, Sonic and even Wonderboy assets, even though you can't melee hit enemies with a sword, or even jump on top of their heads to kill them (you must use an ingame potion to be able to do this...), so you're restricted to using a selection of simple projectiles as your basic means of attack.

It has other problems, most notably the sound (simple 8-bit SFX and chiptunes is all you get, and it gets old quick) and HUD, which is disorganized and not very visually pleasing to be honest.

If a tool that advertises itself as a "make your own game based on your favorite retro-games" only offers gameplay elements from Megaman and calls it a day, i just simply can't recommend it, not even as your first attempt at a platformer maker.
