I honestly cannot recommend this game enough to fans of point and click adventure games or people who just enjoy the idea of games being an artform. In every sense of the word, this game is just that: art. The dialogue is poetry, the music is hauntingly gorgeous, and the art is unique and wonderful. The game manages to pack in subtle humor while bearing solemn tones and scenes which actually managed to bring a tear to my eye. There is genuinely fun combat, and to top it all off, Sword & Sworcery manages to implement gameplay mechanics that bring the real world into the game without being forced upon the player (mild spoiler: it involves moon phases). The game has secrets, too! Lots of them, which is refreshing in a time where games tend to be completely linear affairs with nothing to find.
Not only are you getting the phenomenal game on steam, it also comes with the entire soundtrack, which is completely amazing. Get this game.
Do you enjoy "Metroidvania"-style games? Do you enjoy Minecraft? Do you enjoy video games, period?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, I recommend you give Terraria a try. What at first glance appears to be a 2D Minecraft clone quickly grows into something as far from it as possible- an action game filled with loot and adventure, which just happens to give players the option to craft their own gear and build their own bases.
With tons of gear to find, lots of bosses to fight, and an infinite number of things to build, this isn't a game you'll tire of quickly.
From its beautiful spritework to its gorgeous music, Cave Story is a true classic. Previously (and still available as) a freeware game made by a single man, this version features not only the original but also a new graphics setting, two new soundtrack options, new gameplay modes, and the promise of future updates (at the time of my writing this article, they have a "seasonal" promotion going on in which nearly all of the sprites and locations in the game have been given a winter-themed makeover)! Honestly, for $9.99, I can't think of any reason not to pick up what is not only the definitive version of one of the best platformers of all time, but one of the greatest games of all time- period.
