They made an excellent game and then some exec tacked on super greedy microtransactions. You can't tell that they even exist if you play the game seeing as you're never prompted to buy them in-game and I don't think the game was balanced around them either. We DO need to push back against greedy microtransactions but I do think the discussion around them in this game has been misleading. You don't need to buy them for anything and aren't pushed to do so. The performance has been rough for my 4070, i7-13700k, 32GB RAM PC. I do still recommend this game in spite of the performance problems and the greedy microtransactions.

Incredibly pretty game with an impressive concept of evolving turn-based combat further into something that flows better, but not without final fantasy's focus on cinematic spectacle.

Enjoyable story, unique combat system (seemingly hit or miss with players), excellent presentation, great music, interesting 'job' system (kind of bad), cool setting.

My goty 2023

Excellent survival horror title: cool and unique setting and aesthetics, neat and fun gimmicks, solid game-play, cool story, great soundtrack. I enjoyed the fact that I could play 90% of it with only my left hand on the keyboard, very comfortable. Pretty good length to complete too, will most likely revisit for another play-though eventually. No complaints.

I don't enjoy constantly taking nearly/actually unavoidable damage from non-stop missiles and machine guns.

Baldurs Gate 3 delivers what D&D can and most video games can't: An RPG where even the stuff you do outside of combat is meaty, three dimensionally interactive, empowering, impactful, and interesting.

Faithful remake, neat retro-inspired 90s cyberpunk aesthetic style and attitude, fun and addicting game-play loop, gratifying visual and sound effects/feedback, good atmosphere, feels polished to play. Worth the price.
