Pretty fun little racing game. ACE did a great job with the settings for each chapter and you get a short history lesson during the course of the game. It's not a very long single-player campaign, but the game modes outside of the campaign along with the achievements should add a little more playtime.
This is a big departure from ACE's first outing, Zeno Clash. They've done pretty well transitioning from a shooter to a racing game. I wish there was more to say but it's just a short racing game at its heart.
The setting is Africa and everyone hates you and wants to kill you. You're on a mission to find and kill The Jackal. This is all you know as the game begins. You are a mercenary that has to find your way into a world of weapons and murder, and there is a great selection of guns and explosives to choose from.
The world is absolutely beautiful. Ubisoft created and used the Dunia engine for this game and it is really amazing. Shadows, lighting, textures, sound ambiance...it's all here and done spectacularly well. Maybe the reason I was so into FC2 was because of how beautiful and engrossing the world is. I found myself constantly staring at the scenery, thinking about how it was all put together, instead of playing.
Anyway, the missions are all "Go here, kill this guy"...but you have so many different ways to approach each situation that you never have to kill the same way twice. Highly recommended, especially if you like the first Far Cry. This steps it up a notch or eighty-one.
The Tales series offers a *little bit* of a different style than the Secret games, but the gameplay remains true enough to the fabulous originals from back in the day that you'll find yourself pulling up a walkthrough in no time. Seriously, some of the tasks Guybrush must complete are so outlandish and impossible that unless you like spending extra time trying every possible combination of every possible item then...well let's just say you'll be pulling up a walkthrough.
As usual, though, these Monkey games tell a fun story. The voice acting is pretty spectacular and really give life to the new-age Monkey games that have been released.
If you're a fan of the Monkey Island series of games at all, this is a no-brainer purchase. Telltale and LucasArts collaborated on these titles using top men. Top. Men. So you know they're good.
