Penumbra is a very unique puzzle/adventure game. It has almost the same atmosphere as a survival-horror shooter, except that there's no shooting. The enemies that you can fight are overwhelmingly powerful against your meager arsenal of a pickaxe and throwing rocks. The tension and atmosphere the game creates are second to none - though it is not strictly a horror game, this is by far the scariest game I have ever played. Though it has its fast-paced moments, most of the scares come in the form of chilling notes and what's left behind by people who came before. Penumbra seems very obscure to me, which is sad. If you're ever in the mood for a more intellectual brand of horror game, try this.

Team Fortress 2 really is the most fun you can have online. Don't let the cartoony style fool you, this game is not at all made for kids. It's probably the most strategic first person shooter I've ever played. Each class feels like its own game and has a purpose in the grand scheme of the game. It's the chess of first person shooters.
