Load into my first campaign with some friends as an engineer

First mission is called "Call of the Void"

Mechanic opens a door and gets ripped to shreds by three Necromorphs

I hide in the safety of my reactor room while the crew clean house upstairs

Suddenly water starts to fill the reactor room

"Why is the reactor room flooding?"

Three Necromorphs proceed to crawl through the floor, picking me off the ground and proceeding to toss me about like a ragdoll as I scream in panic

The security officer in the distance: "SNIPS USE YOUR ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WORDS"

After turning me into a modern art piece, the Necromorphs burrow through the command room floor and tear the crew limb from limb



10/10, Never accept a mission named "Call of the Void"

Well I believe a revised review is an order with all the recent updates, so lets get right to it shall we?

So some problems that still exist:

- The UI for selecting units in combat needs some work

- The ability to launch and recover aircraft aboard carriers in combat would be nice instead of just on the map screen

- I believe the campaign mode should be tweaked, the AI seem to get significantly more resources than the player, I would wish that the AI has to follow the same rules as the player.

- Individual ships of each class (At least capital ships) could use some love to bring them into a more realistic light as each individual ship of a class usually differed in one way or another.

- Your ships anti-aircraft fire will prioritize the closest plane first and focus on only it until it dies or leaves their range, meaning that the AIs recon planes draw the entire AA battery of the fleet while any strike aircraft that are actual threats don't get any. I would strongly suggest implementing a system for the AA to prioritize targets, especially strike aircraft that have not released their ordnance.

Well with that out of the way, what are the positives you may ask?

- The developers have been releasing updates at a rapid pace, fixing many bugs and adding quality of life features many of which seems to be based on reviews such as mine. Which I think is great!

- The tutorials are good and teach you the fundamentals well, though it is unfortunate that good tutorials are a positive these days and not a given.

- The UI has been improved in places to make it more intuitive, it's still a bit clunky but not nearly as bad as it was.

- Your fighters now automatically target enemy aircraft and engage them, which was a major issue before as it meant you had to micro manage your entire fighter squadron.


I will continue to update this review as time passes and updates come forward, my current opinion is that the game is worth a try, though I would say wait until a sail at the moment until some of the issues are ironed out. If developers are reading this, I would love to hear your opinions on some of the things put forward here.

Tactically manage your sanity while spending as little time as possible inside to avoid triggering a hunt.


What you should do:

Sprint in circles chanting the ghosts name in a ritualistic fashion for 10 minutes while they fear to show themselves in your presence.

Five German sailors sit in a tin can for 4 hours slowly developing ocean madness, insanity is setting in. The hydrophone operator is howling into the microphone, Ride of the Valkyries is playing, and the faces of the bridge crew on that Flower class corvette seem rather amused.

The developers completely stopped development of the game, you have been warned.

War Thunder is not a fun game, but it does have fun moments. You have to crawl and slog through the game to get to the small hit of dopamine, before being immediately thrown back into the pits of despair.

A classic from the olden days of strategy, a great game for singleplayer and multiplayer alike! For those who are wondering how to fix the game and run multiplayer, the game is so old it requires Games for Windows Live to run it. This game still has a small but committed community of great players, with plenty of mods if needed. The game balance itself is a bit odd requiring you to complete the campaigns to unlock "Special units" for multiplayer, such as the Iowa class battleship.

In conclusion, this game is a fun nostalgic experience and when on sale for only 1 dollar is a great game to get!
