Soldat is a unique side-view multiplayer action game. It takes the best from games like Liero, Worms, Quake and Counter-Strike and gives you fast action gameplay with tons of blood and flesh. Soldiers fight against each other on 2D battle arenas using a deadly military arsenal. This is what multiplayer was invented for.

This game is something that I probably won't ever forget. Though it's not really a game - it's more like an interactive story with occasional easy puzzles, minigames and some exploration. The story, however, is absolutely brilliant. Interesting, unpredictable, well-paced, and most of all - touching. It's amazing how this little game holds so much emotion.

P.S. - The soundtrack is also great. If you like piano and instrumental music - make sure to get the soundtrack bundle.
Bastion is a somewhat generic isometric smash-em-up, but beautiful art style and engaging story make it truly stand out. Thanks to the narrator (you can hear him in the trailer) the story is at least twice as fun to listen to. Combat mechanics aren't exactly unique but still fun, meaty, diverse, and packed with a plenty of optional but rewarding challenges.
I'd recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the genre and/or likes good art and story. Don't know if you'll find it worth $15, but do consider buying it when it's on sale.
The inspiration for this game comes from some of the older RPGs such as "Eye of the Beholder" and "Lands of Lore". Combat mechanics of those games are rather unique, but as newer and newer games came out, a lot of those mechanics have been forgotten or changed beyond recognition.
This game recreates the experience of those older games on a nice 3D-engine and improved interface. It strikes good balance between preserving the old-school feel but at the same time being much prettier and less clunky than its predecessors.
My only complaints are:
- a few rooms have so many monsters that it's near impossible to fight strategically.
- some items and notes are misleading, you'll sometimes find yourself doing the most sensible thing to solve a puzzle and then wonder why in the world it won't work.
Overall though, it's fun and unique. Smart puzzles, lots of secrets, fun combat, rewarding exploration. A bit short, but hopefully upcoming map editor will fix that.
