TSF Clan (The Skaro Faction), a HL2DM clan known for its good will and friendship have formed an alliance online. Join us playing Zandagort to get support and friendship to new players. We have experienced players from the original Hungarian server who are happy to help.
It is a complex game. It takes time to learn it, and even more time to master it. If that appeals to you, you should definitely give it a try. Say, you wanna max out your planet? Take care of energy, food, population, the animals you eat and the trees you fell, the natural resources you harvest, and all the chains of production you need to reach the top. And then grow beyond that. Develop new technologies, levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, spy on your enemies.
Do you like science fiction with an emphasis on science? If an imaginary world is bound by physical, biological, economical, sociological constraints? Then this is your world.
And last but not least, the game has a strong community. Not only does this community help developing the game, it nurtures noobs and newcomers (through ingame chat, forum and mail), and most importantly creates the world and story of the game by allying, fighting, betraying, scheming and even writing fan fiction stories.
What’s this name, and what’s the story, and what’s the point?
Zandagort is the leader of an alien species coming from the Andromeda Galaxy. He is sometimes referred to as an evil prince. Evil meaning an inexplicable desire to destroy the human race. The game started soon after first (radio) contact with Zandagort. It lasted 6 months IRL (600 years in gametime) for the players to prepare for war and try to unite mankind against the common foe (by fighting against each other). It ended in a disaster. A faction called Church of Zandagort sabotaged the defensive efforts of humans, which led to the complete destruction of the Milky Way. That was server number one.
The next server took place in another galaxy, where the survivors fled. It was 5 months of war and peace (this will be the standard length of a server), and concluded in most of the galaxy annihilated, except for two planets, Haven and Camelot.
So you see the point: unite humanity by whatever means (economy, war, diplomacy), to defend our home against Zandagort.
Let’s say you convinced me. What do I need to play?
Just a plain web browser.
How much does it cost to play?
Okay, what’s the trick? Nothing is fun and for free at the same time.
In Zandagort you have an option. You can play for free forever (or until the game is closed for financial reasons), and if you like it, you can support it with some money. But to make it better than a donation, you get some extra features in return. Like a list of buildings that will be automatically built when you have enough resources, or a better version of the map. What’s important is that you can’t buy more than that. No ingame money for real life money, no faster spaceships, no cheating. If you have 5 dollars for this game a month, and your enemy has 500, he can spend only 5 on the game, and stick the remaining 495 bucks up his nose. That’s what he can do.
