Undead Vengeance
Major changes!
Everyone get ready to read a lot: we have a lot of really big changes happening, and they're all listed below:
First and foremost, we have shut down our old CS:S servers... and moved them to our brand new, dedicated box! Below is P2 with a brief explanation:
We did it guys. The box has been purchased. We now own an Intel Harpertown 5450 beast of a machine direct from Quantum-Servers.com. Here are the quick specs:
*Intel Harpertown 5450 - 2 x 4 Cores @ 3Ghz w/ 2 x 12mb L2 Cache
*4 Gigs DDR2 Memory
*300GB SCSI Hard Drive
*Custom CentOS 5 64bit Kernel (Linux)
*100mbit Port
Since we're Quantum's 2nd dedicated server customer, Steve is doing as much as he can to ensure our full satisfaction. He's gonna help us squeeze every ounce of power from this new machine, codenamed Big Bertha (for the lulz). He's a wizard with Linux and we're extremely lucky to have him by our side; he's virtually acting as our own managed services technician (which normally cost a ridiculous amount of money) for free. This is the first Linux dedicated server UV has owned since the spring of 2007, thats nearly 2 years of having to deal with the overhead of Windows.
Another thing I'd like to note: Steve is gonna set up an automated Backup service on one of their redundancy systems that will connect to our box and do nightly backups of all of our game server files. We'll finally have something to help us breath easy when something goes wrong and files mysteriously go amiss. Woots. o=

Here are the new IPs:
24/7 Dust 2 -- 208.43.62.145:27015
WCS #1 -- 208.43.62.147:27015
WCS #2 -- 208.43.62.148:27015
Zombie -- 208.43.62.150:27015
Surf -- 208.43.62.144:27015
Secondly, we promised expansion into new games, and we have DELIVERED. We now have a Warcraft: Source/Zombie server, one operational Team Fortress 2 server online now, and another Team Fortress 2 server as well as two Left 4 Dead servers COMING THIS WEEK. These are new servers, so please bear with us while we fine-tune the settings and map rotations. The IPs are below:
24/7 Goldrush/Badwater -- 208.43.62.146:27015
TF2 #2 -- IP Forthcoming
L4D #1 -- 208.43.62.152:27015
L4D #2 -- IP Forthcoming
WCS/ZM -- 89.145.117.37:27015
It should be noted that the WCS/ZM server is under Hannibal's control-- HOWEVER, the server has it's own RCON password, which he will not have access to; he will only be maintaining it for us, because of his past experience with the WCS/ZM mod. I expect that the fact that the server is his shouldn't be an issue; it is a VERY cool mod, and I think Hannibal will be a great person to run it.
That brings our current server total to TEN (10); with these new servers, we hope our community will increase, but we need your help to make this a success! Please help populate these servers!
Third, of course with all these new servers, we can't possibly hope to have discussions for all ten servers in one "Our Servers" forum, so please be sure to check out our brand new "Our Servers" subforum! Over time, server information and rules will be pinned up in each forum; in addition, suggestions and bug reports about the specific server can be made in the correct forum.
