Trading updates
We’re updating trading to include a captcha as part of confirmation process. This is to prevent malware on users’ machines making trades on their behalf. We know it’s a bit of a hassle, and we don’t like making trading harder for users, but we do expect it to significantly help customers who are tricked into downloading and running malware from losing their items. We’ve excluded a few of the existing third-party trading services from this requirement so they can continue to function. If you have any suggestions on the trading process please let us know. Thanks.

Horrible update, it destroyed all pending trade offers -_-
http://gyazo.com/58830fd872bebd2416936f350d5d652e any way to fix this?

So as far as "If you have any suggestions on the trading process please let us know." that goes...yes fix it xd you're preventing ANY trade now...

----

"We know it’s a bit of a hassle, and we don’t like making trading harder for users, but we do expect it to significantly help customers who are tricked into downloading and running malware from losing their items."

I want the option to turn it off, for example > I put my settings to NO captcha > people can spam me phishers or trojans all they want, I won't fall for it anyway. Those who are "green" to the internet, have the option to put captcha's up. Then again, IF somebody gets infected with a trojan/rat the hacker/scriptkiddie can just enter the captcha...I don't see this solve anything. period

----

Another random thought > Valve signed up with a company to solve captcha's. For every 10 or so captcha solved > Valve gets 1 cent. > Valve lets us solve millions captcha's per day > they make bank. :squirtyay:

----

Just cancelled all my pending trade offers, wont even let me trade main keeps crashing.

it would also help if you'd lower the amount of friend requests that lower level accounts(<10) can send-,also captchas for commenting on profiles... that's better than implementing them on trade.

Is this still in Beta? Because I cannot see any captchas but it prevents me from trading.

I don't have the beta client.

Google can get past captchas at a rate of 99%. Captchas are easliy solved by programms, all you ever catch are blind people.

"There was an error validating the code you entered. Please try again."

For some reason I always get that error. I'm 100% sure that I type my captchas right.

My Steam Client is already up-to-date, no Beta client. BUT I cannot see any captchas codes or input fields. Restarted the client but it won't show up. (in FF same)

How can you be excluded from this "improvement"?
Please let me know and thanks in advance :)

This is a waste of time, if you have malware/a keylogger on your PC, the infultrator isnt going to stop stealing your items, when he sees a captcha.....this is a complete waste of time for a vast majority of users who already realise this wont prevent anything, atleast maybe put in an option to turn captchas on or off?

If people are stupid enough to fall for something that would infect them with malware they deserve it anyway for being stupid.

I feel like Valve is on a mission to make Steam as annoying service as possible. So many bad changes in the last few months.

This...so much this. Been getting hammered by invites from low level accounts for months, and spammed with hijack bot comments for just as long. Gets a little old, ya know? :OhNo:
