Pope Benedict has stunned crowds in the Vatican on sunday by addressing them to affirm the quality of slip-on soft shoes. In what is thought to be a deviation from his planned speech, he proclaimed 'Slippers rule!' before throwing up the devil horns and gesticulating with members of the congregation. Vatican spokespeople have admitted they are baffled by the statement, but all questioned have agreed with the sentiment expressed in it.
