SCi Fi Games Members - Protect Your Steam Accounts! Keep your passwords secure!
Greetings & Good Journey to All Fellow SCi Fi Games Members,

On August 11, 2010, A.D., I received a chat request on the SCi Fi Games group asking me to visit a *.tk website to reactivate my account due to multiple IPs. They warned that if I don't reactivate my account my account would be disabled.

PLEASE SCi Fi Games Members: NEVER give out your account password to ANY non-Valve website on the Internet! If it is a Phishing Scheme, you risk having your account stolen.

Only use your Official Steam Client downloaded ONLY from Steampowered.com. Only ever use http://www.steamcommunity.com or http://www.steampowered.com/ (http://store.steampowered.com/) Websites ONLY.

SCi Fi Games is proud & privileged to be a part of Valve's Steam Community, and PROTECTING our Members to ensure SCi Fi Games remains a great game play group is paramount.

Play hard & Prosper,

I got a message from someone who has this group in common with me. It was a link to a site that Firefox says is "suspected of web forgery". It was called steamgifting.org or something. Can’t remember the members name but be on the look out...

Another threat for your passwords
Today a player called "Hello!" sends a message to us:

"13:35 - Hello! (1) NVIDIA and STEAMPOWERED gives you 3 FREE games to add to your account just visit: steamcomnvidiagames.tk"

Just in case, his profile link is: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197996691649/

It reminded me the first issue. Haven't seen the web site for sure, but steam publishes the free games in forum. You can check it from here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=851573

I did the Spock to him, to his both eyes. I think he survived. So, just take care about this as well.

Here goes the official Steam reply for this issue. The only important part is the first two sentences. The rest looks like copy-paste to me. Anyway, just in case, I wanted to share the reply as well.

"Hello, thank you for contacting Steam Support. We appreciate your concern regarding your account information, and will investigate this matter further. A Valve (Steam) employee or representative will NEVER ask you for your account password. Please ignore any further contact from them and remove them from your Friends list. Valve does not communicate with customers on the Steam friends chat nor do we use any free e-mail providers such as Yahoo, Gmail or Hotmail. If you have any further questions regarding this issue, please let us know. "

PS: You are welcome DMC Jurassic

Thank you Gekko, I regret to say but there may be one among us in our own group who may be dishonest. Sci Fi fans are a smart bunch! This person should know better. Thanks again Gekko for taking your personal time to notify Valve ; )

I received the same message and reported it to Valve. Even it was a cheap trick with a terrible domain, it is always good to inform people, thanks!
