Small response from Ubisoft Netherlands collapse
We said we would wait to post another announcement till we heard from Valve and the publishers or if we reached 5000 members. We haven’t reached 5000 members but the Dutch site Tweakers.net has contacted Ubisoft and Atari in the Netherlands and has gotten a response from Ubisoft.

Michiel Verheijdt of Ubisoft Netherlands told that the choice is purely economical. "In North America Steam is used a lot more, there are more online sales there and offering the games on Steam isn’t free so Ubisoft chose to only target that market". Verheijdt also mentioned that there are plans to expand the offering. The publisher is currently investigating how to do this (this does not necessarily mean on Steam –Kapitein Iglo).

Atari Netherlands could not give any hints on the online strategy of the French mother corporation and whether the games will come in the near future.

While it isn’t the most concrete answer we hoped for we can at least take away some speculation. They don’t publish the games in the rest of the world because of economical reasons and not because they have sold the right to distribution or any other reason we have come up with. They think the costs won’t be covered by the sales in the rest of the world.

We think that is an extra sign that we are doing good with our group to show these publishers that there are a lot of gamers that want to buy their games. If we keep on growing then we should one day hit the amount of members that Ubisoft needs to make profit and hopefully reconsider their strategy (and even then we will only be a small representation of the whole world). Also, if it hadn’t been for our group and all you members helping us out tweakers.net might have never contacted Ubisoft and gotten a response on it (thank you for submitting it to Tweakers.net Sorcix, that makes you the new player of the week!).

It shows that we are doing the right thing but also need to keep growing, so again we ask you to help us out by sending the invites, letting websites know of our existence and start discussions on forums.

As always we will keep on trying to get more answers from Valve and the third party publishers.
