ABOUT Multi Theft Auto

Multi Theft Auto

Multi Theft Auto (MTA) is an open-source software project that adds full on-line gaming support to Rockstar North's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas PC game, in which this functionality is not originally found. It is the first open-source modification that adds a highly customizable network play element to a commercial closed-source single-player PC game.

Developed as an experimental piece of software initially for Grand Theft Auto 3 back in early 2003, Multi Theft Auto has become an advanced multiplayer platform for gamers and developers. Our software provides on-line gaming for dozens of players running user-generated gameplay content and scripts through a Lua virtual machine, and is freely distributed under the GPLv3 license.

Current stable release: MTA:SA 1.3.1 (released on 2 September, 2012)

This is an official Multi Theft Auto group on Steam Community.

Note: MTA:SA works fine with the Steam version of GTA:SA, albeit it needs some small tinkering. Please check out one of the attached links to see what needs to be done.

L10n - AKA The Giant Translation Project
L10n - What is it?
L10n stands for localization, literally. L ( 10 chracters ) n.

But what does MTA have to do with L10n?
The MTA devs have been working on multi language support for MTA. And that's where you come in!

We need the help of the MTA community to translate MTA. Most of the community probably speaks at least 2 languages, English and their native language usually. If you do, well we need YOU! Translation of MTA has been one of the most requested features since the launch of MTA. We even had a small French release back in the 0.3 GTA3/VC days. But we want to have proper, multi language support for MTA. Remember, the MTA team is not doing the translations. Without the community, the translations won't exist! We are merely adding multi language support to MTA. The rest is up to the community to get the translations done!

To help with translating, visit http://translate.mtasa.com and check out the site. Registration is not necessary for helping to translate, but we recommend it. Your suggestions will still be received by the site, but will actually be submitted perhaps by another user if they approve of them, thus you won't receive credit for the translations. So far, we already have French, German, Russian, and Polish ready for testing immediately. See the original post for more information.

Remember, it's up to YOU to get MTA translated.

Does anyone know good servers on mta?

We considered this but it can not be done at the moment. One of the reasons is the lack of full compatibility with the GTA:SA Steam version.
