LT Henry, named as such after the main character from Hemmingway’s A Farewell to Arms, is a pioneer in the Northwestern New Jersey music scene. The experimental noise, created with whatever is around at the time, reminds us that it doesn’t take a big budget to make grown men cry in pain. In fact, a man crying out in pain is the very sound that starts LT Henry’s debut album “Songs for the Criminally Insane.”
Alex, Jason, Eric, Matt, Kaity, Peter, and Amanda have done an excellent job of capturing the desperation faced by young people stuck in the boonies. A basement in Byram, located in the kinda-rural but kinda-suburb section of Sussex County, right on the Route 206 corridor, serves as the main base of operations, where hard liquor and a General Electric tape recorder bought at the Ledgewood Wal-Mart reign supereme.
This album tackles a wide range of issues facing young people in Northwestern New Jersey today. From Animals in the Space Program to Eric beating the crap out of people, and finally rounding off at Christmas in July, this is sure to be the album for the disgruntled teenager stuck in the midst of farmland on your list this holiday season!.
