Valve to release Left 4 Dead DLC for free on the PC
Occasionally there are news stories that are almost declaring things like, "The sky is blue," That's what's happened with an odd press release from Valve today announcing the "news" that the recently revealed first content update for their zombie co-op shooter Left 4 Dead will be free to download for PC owners.
To be totally fair, the download will also be free for Xbox 360 owners of the game and that's certainly newsworthy for that platform. They have to usually pay to get things like new levels, modes and other content for their games. Valve, however, has made it a practice to release a ton of free stuff for a number of their other games for the PC including Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source and many others. It's a practice that's shared by other developers including Epic Games, id Software and many others. It's good to know that perhaps other consoles could be learning from Valve's example.
