A meer 5 hours before L4D2 releases, Valve saw fit to bestow the dedicated server upon us. Although it can't be fully tested, the Kool Catz L4D2 dedicated server will be online tonight!

With some command-line trickery, voodoo, and a helpful dude on a forum, there are now Versus/Campaign/Scavenger servers running.
My previous post still is valid though - if you want to start a lobby and connect to the server, follow those instructions.

Valve broke L4D2 dedicated server - they are still working on it. Until then, only the Kool Catz Coop server will appear in the group server list. You can force a versus/survival/scavenge/etc game on the group server by running the following command in the console before you enter the lobby:
mm_dedicated_force_servers foo.grsww.com|10.1.10.245:27015,foo.grsww.com|10.1.10.245:27016,foo.grsww.com|10.1.10.245:27017
I recommend adding this to your autoexec.cfg if you really don't want to play any public servers.
