ABOUT Petition: Bring Gunman Chronicles Back

Bring the Original Gunman Chronicles to Steam

Gunman Chronicles is a cult-classic science-fiction FPS, released in 2000 on the PC, developed on Half-Life 1's GoldSource Engine. Set in the far future, where mankind's space empire is defended by the Gunman military corps, you take the role of Major Archer in a fight against an old nemesis and a sinister alien species. It also sported a great multiplayer component that once had a thriving community behind it, before the WON servers were shut down in 2005. With a lengthy singleplayer campaign that includes innovative features such as complex weapon modding systems, as well as vehicular combat, and a unique art style combining steampunk sensibilities with cyberpunk tones and space western influences, Gunman represents, even today, a breath of fresh air in a genre that is slowly growing stale.

Originally a mere mod with a protracted development schedule, it eventually turned into a full retail release following an impressive showing at the Half-Life Mod Expo in 1999. Ever since its original release, Valve has still owned the rights to it, but for whatever reason has neglected to release it on Steam, leaving it to be forgotten. All of Valve's other back catalog games have been re-released on Steam... except for Gunman. The game itself is now practically out-of-print, and acquiring a copy can be difficult.

We hope that with enough people joining this group and supporting our cause, Valve may notice and develop some interest in resurrecting the Gunman legend on Steam. We're confident that a Steam re-release, even in this day and age, would be a success, especially within the Valve fanbase.

Nuclear, you said gunman isn't on Greenlight because only the owners of the rights can put it on greenlight, and you said as well that valve owns the rights.
so, Valve himself has to put the game in greenlight ?

I think that a really good idea will be to release Gunman 2 , but this time using the source engine as it has better graphics than the source engine. And maybe including GMan in the game will be a very good idea and that your mission will be to return to Earth but you'll fail many times by going to other planets and in the end you are on Earth , the same planet as in HL2 , and this will happen after City 17 was totally destroyed.Maybe a plan of GMan trying to stop you to go to Earth. That sounds amazing doesn't it!?

Thanks guys, glad you like our work on Darkout :)
We already released a closed beta on our forums and started a crowdfunding campaign where anyone can pre-purchase the game: http://www.indiegogo.com/Darkoutgame

The team now has two more C++ coders, so now we are able to progress faster on the game development, now releasing a new patch every week aprox. :)

If you want to keep updated about the game, check out our Darkout discussion group here:
