Definitely. My "main" character is NC/SolTech, but I'm fine with making another character somewhere else (and with another faction - I don't really have a preference). also, echoing Citizen Snips (sorry, SNIIIIPS!!!!) in preferring Gameological internet people to random internet people.

I've been researching PS2 (ie: reading forums because I don't want to lone-wolf) and there are some good deals/sales going on. Tomorrow, Friday, December 21st, Sony's running a 3x Station Cash deal (spacebucks for the real-money-store; $1 (US) = 100 spacebucks). Wal-Mart sells a 1500-SC card for $15, and it comes with 500 bonus SC. GameStop has a unique-skin gun as a bonus with some of their cards. Somewhere else (can't remember the name, sorry) also has something similar to Wal-Mart, but only 1000, with 200 bonus. All of these cards will get you three times the spacebucks if you wait until tomorrow to redeem them.

Also also, from the 21st of December to the 3rd of January, it's double XP!

The thing would be choosing a server, I suppose, and then creating an outfit. Anyone wanna do that? I've been playing the game a bit, and rather enjoying it, though not so much that I'm feeling like buying points at the moment.

I'm a TR on Jaeger right now, but I don't mind making a new character on any faction/server. Are there any certs required to start an outfit or is that something you can do right off the bat?

Snips - it doesn't take any certs to start an outfit (as far as I can tell).

As I said above, I've got an NC/SolTech (just hit rank 11 tonight!). I also have a TR on Helios (rank 5). I wouldn't mind making a Vanu or TR somewhere else, though - I'm kind of attached to my NC (Engineer mostly) since I spent some space-bucks to get some new guns and a helmet.

NC guns hit a little harder but are slower-firing with more recoil, TR guns are fast-firing and pretty accurate, with slightly lower damage (doesn't seem to matter when pretty much every shot is on target), and the Vanu have lasers with pretty much no recoil, but not a lot of damage (edit: they do about the same damage as TR, but have a shorter range; or, rather, a higher damage drop-off at longer ranges - it takes a Vanu sniper an extra shot or two to take out someone at usual 'sniper' ranges, it seems).

The above information is based on my limited playtime and some forum-reading, so I may be wrong, and I'm sure there are guns for each empire that buck the trend. Shotguns are supposedly pretty great for close-quarters (haven't bought one yet, but I'm considering it).

Anyway, my vote is NC/SolTech, for pretty much selfish reasons, but I'm more than willing to join Snips on Jaeger or somewhere new. Anyone else have characters they've put some time/space-bucks into?

I've been playing TC on the ice continent on an Austrialian server, but honestly don't care all that much about changing. I'm happy to join anything. i've been enjoying being a bit of a lone-wolf, repairing stuff behind the lines and advancing on abandoned facilities, but a bit more of a group experience would be nice.

just started the NC Gameological Society outfit on SolTech. We're sorely outnumbered (which at least gives us a little bit of bonus xp most of the time), and the power of rock isn't quite enough. Join us if you love being awesome (or, you know, just cruise around in ATVs and get stuck in hilarious places).

Snips: don't worry about your shoddy driving. I got a Sunderer stuck in a ditch the other day, and I couldn't get it out, even with a tank pushing me from the side to try and straighten it out (and a ATV, but that didn't really help much).

We've had as many as six people in a squad at once! Granted, about half of the outfit currently consists of my real-life buddies who play on that server, and the other half is me, Hobbes, and Emperor Norton. shoot me a message next time you hop on and I'll make sure you get invited to the GS outfit.

Also, we have the option to set an outfit tag. I was considering taking Illogical Joker's [GLOG] tag, but if anyone has any other ideas, let's hear 'em. My other thought was [TETI], in honor of our Illustrious Founder. Or we could just remain tagless and appear to be a bunch of random people working together.

Finally, last night, Hobbes, my buddy Gutter (avatar and name taken from Jon Favreau's character in the movie PCU), and I helped defend The Crown - a mountaintop base on Indar, I think it is. It was the longest I have ever stayed alive as a MAX unit, and I helped keep the skies clear. It was great fun, but we could've been more effective if there'd been more than 3 of us.

Server merge today! We're now on Mattherson, and it is populated. I spent about twenty minutes on Amerish earlier - dropped in on a biolab under attack (a hotspot on Amerish, you say? There were TWO, and another one on Esamir!), got killed about 3 seconds after landing on the pad. Respawned at one of the satellite bases and it was pretty quiet, except for the air EVERYWHERE. Terrans, so I actually had to spot for enemies rather than just shoot the obviously-not-NC alien-ships the Vanu use. I saw a guy in a dual-burster MAX and decided to join him. Two more people had the same idea, and we had a four-MAX AA battery keeping the sky clear around that base. I was constantly firing (or reloading, or ducking into the spawn room to avoid being bombed from the libs).

It was glorious. There were Terran fighters flying as a group, hitting us from multiple angles, and we just kept shooting flak in the air. I only got one actual kill, but a lot of "ground to air damage" bonuses and assists. Liberators were just bigger targets. I even got a few shots on a Galaxy that was headed to the biolab to drop off reinforcements.

You don't even have to do anything! Just log in and play with a lot more people!
