'superclan formed by original members
of the best clans in the history of online
competitive gaming'
In 1996, a PCEG magazine article entitled "Return of a SuperClan" quipped that the superclan was a "potent but short-lived team phenomenon" which was an "amalgam formed by the talented malcontents of other teams." The article acknowledged that clans such as ::NA:: & TiK "played the most anticipated games and made megakills, and sometimes performed megarape", with the rounds "fueled by dueling egos." However, while this "clan infighting built up the excitement...it also made breakups inevitable." [3]
Mike LeVille's 2008 article "Super or blooper?", which is subtitled "SuperClans: So much promise, so often squandered", notes that "when well-known players get together in new configurations, they're guaranteed lots of attention, but these ego summits rarely bear fruit as fresh as what made these guys own in the first place."[4] LeVille praises superclans such as .:.da9.:. saying "They are always at their best, consistently owning. Thats what makes .:.da9.:. the first and only true superclan"
