A CBM-Amiga fanbase for Amiga or C64 retro gamers.

The Amiga was originally designed by a small company called Amiga Corporation, and initially intended to be a next generation video game machine, but was later redesigned into a general purpose computer. Before the machine was released into the market the company was purchased by Commodore. The first model was released in 1985 as simply "The Amiga from Commodore", later to be retroactively dubbed the Amiga 1000. The following year the Amiga product line was expanded with the introduction of two new models; the Amiga 2000 for high-end graphics and business use, and the Amiga 500 was for home use. Commodore later released several new Amiga models, both for low-end gaming use and high-end productivity use.

In 1994, Commodore filed for bankruptcy and its assets were purchased by Escom, a German PC manufacturer, who created the subsidiary company Amiga Technologies. They re-released the A1200 and A4000T, and introduced a new 68060 version of the A4000T.

Commodore got "revived" by Commodore Gaming which was formed to reintroduce the brand to the booming gaming PC market, after jointly acquiring the Commodore name with Commodore International Corporation in 2005. At the CeBIT 2007 show in Germany, four new gaming geared PCs were introduced, named Cg, Cgs, Cgx and Cxx. These are described as ranging from an entry level gaming PC to an “extreme specification model”. Each machine runs Windows Vista with customization from a range of high end components and peripherals.

August 26, 2011 - Cloanto released today Amiga Forever 2012 and C64 Forever 2012, the latest versions of the award-winning Commodore-Amiga preservation, emulation and support suites for Windows.

By adding powerful content authoring and integration functionality, Amiga Forever and C64 Forever 2012 close the circle between gaming, productivity and preservation of digital culture while adding new features and providing easier access to a universe of free and legal downloads.

The new versions build on a powerful synergy of original components:

RP9 file format, which is a compressed cross-platform archive containing media images, configuration, description and ancillary data, developed by Cloanto
RetroPlatform Player and API to interface with different emulation plugins
Cloanto's unique portfolio of ROM and OS licenses
The new packages can emulate the full range of 8-bit (C64, VIC 20, PET/CBM, etc.) and 16/32-bit systems (Amiga, CDTV, etc.) using an intuitive media player-like interface. The advanced RP9 authoring functionality sets new references in preserving and making accessible digital culture from the 1980s and 1990s. Content created or edited with the Windows software can be played back on other systems, including mobile devices (in part under development).

The 2012 versions not only include hundreds of software enhancements, but also add content of historical interest, like new interviews with Amiga legends RJ Mical and Dave Haynie, also with HD-quality video footage.

My Amiga 1200 HD 2.5 128meg has just died last week, thank god it's all backed up to my PC, can I still get a small HD for my Amiga 1200 ?

I just re aquired an Amiga 1200 it came today. I cant wait to set it up. I need to get a IDE-Compact Flash converter. and learn how to copy files from the pc to the amiga as I have a dvd full of ADF files. let the good times roll.
