And finally: Foil Badges!

The support for tracking a third type of badges is now finally live: The so-called foil badges are crafted from foil cards (trading cards with a special foil border) and are somewhat rare. By adding them we had to drop all previous collected game badge data and start by zero again. This may sound worse, but the permanent crawling process will fetch all the data pretty quick again. Games without achievements featuring badges are still not yet trackable, but I'm working on a solution.

Another nice feature part of this update is the "my profile" function. If you visit a profile, probably your own one, you can mark it as yours and have a quick link displayed to it in the site's page header. No more need to search for it! This idea was actually crafted from the results of our opinion survey, which is still running:
http://poll.achievementstats.com/

Enjoy the update! :)

1.13 with game card badges out!

Another day full of extreme programming and here we are, AchStats has now complete support for all types of badges, stages, levels and XP! This marks also the release of version 1.13. :)

You might want to start browsing the badges section, there's another table featuring the game card badges with their stages aka levels. Check out the XP value for each level and all the unlockers. Since every game could possible offer badges, you will now find a new menu link on each single game site to its badges (annotated with that red ribbon).

Your profile was also updated showcasing all badge types and the rankings are counting those together, too.

One issue remains: AchStats only tracks games marked as "has achievements", but some game card badges are based on games without achievements like "Don't Starve" or "Dota 2". Due to the unknown app ID it's not possible to handle them. I've to think about a solution, but for now the affected badges are just ignored.

What else is new? AchStats supports tracking of the game "Spectromancer" although it marks itself as achievement-less. Weird stuff.^^ Another addition for your profile was the ability to hide completed games alongside to the broken ones. I guess you alreay noticed that. ;)

What's coming up next? I want to do more with the XP values in profiles and rankings and the unannounced main features for 1.13 have beed scheduled for the 1.14 release. I'm pretty sure Valve will keep us busy anyway with the new trading card layout, since it's still beta.

Oh, and we will start discussing the results of our opinion survey soon. Vote now if you haven't yet: http://poll.achievementstats.com/

Badges! Stages! XP!

That was today one hell of a coding session, but I've managed to upgrade the crawler for handling the new badges format introduced with the trading card feature yesterday!

Some release notes: Stages from the old and new layout are overlapping and having name / images clashes. This is not a bug, just a temporary situation as long as the old community profile layout is still used.

Badges based on game cards are not yet handled. I haven't found the needed time to figure out these special cases.

You can now browse the badge stages with XP values! It will take some time to index them all, but it's finally a place to sort and check XP of every stage! They are presorted from highest to lowest value.

Enjoy your badges again and I hope you appreciate this immediate update. :)

I was busy the last days not developing AchStats, but setting up LimeSurvey, a free open source survey tool. I've created a sophisticated poll on your opinion regarding the current state and future versions of AchStats. We want to know your thoughts on these topics! Please participate in this survey:

http://poll.achievementstats.com/

Thank you! :)

First batch of 1.13 updates

Already eagerly waiting for the next big update? Good news for you, because I just brought forward some of the features targeted for the upcoming 1.13 release!

Since the introduction of the friends extended stats the single profile one was quite obsolete. It was completely incorporated into the friends one and that has now changed: The profile extended stats are now grouped by game, which allows an wicked indepth analysis of every game's unlocking trend. Of course you can still chose a chart line aggregating all unlocks into one like it used to be. Make sure to check it out!

Speaking of extended statistics, they have been added to both steps of the compare feature. The charts are located below the profile-game matrix in the first step and below the achievements compare table in the second step. I've also added the submit button in the friends ranking on top of the table to promote the compare feature a bit more. ;) Give it a try if you haven't yet!

The history section (via About menu) features now an interactive timeline chart showing you the trend of all the tracked data since the very beginning. We are going to add usage charts from Piwik there, too.

Another noteable change is the addition of votes to all the pending achievement lists. A big thanks goes out lastly to all translation maintainers for their ongoing support and continuous updates. They are making it possible to use AchStats in your preferred language!

Enjoy this first glimpse of 1.13 features and look even more forward to the actual release. :)

1.12 finalized

The rewritten reporting system is now live and the feature set of 1.12 has been reached! It's now possible to report falsely assigned achievements, e.g. a broken achievement which was never broken or it isn't bugged any longer. Or a report of an achievement which is assigned to a wrong DLC and needs to be relocated again. Those reports are now listed in an extra pending view. Every reporting action will give you a detailed result of your input and possible performed actions. Ticking a checkbox is also easer by clicking somewhere in that table cell.

I've also added some subtle but intuitive linking of unlock dates and other values to each player's unlocking history. Let's see if you notice these little enhancements. ;)

I hope you enjoy the improved reporting system and use it to contribute to the site's data quality. :)

One Year AchStats!

Celebration! AchStats turned one year on 18th February! Visit the site now to be surprised by a special birthday theme. :)

This day should also mark the release of 1.12: Since tracking of badges were already pre-released, you can find now a total awesome friends-extended-stats-comparing feature accessible via the friends ranking. You gotta love this, go check it out!! =) Thanks to SVK-proDŽÍ-Rio13 for the suggestion.

Another big news is the support for SSL: You can now browse the site fully secured via https://www.achievementstats.com/ - please note the URL shortener achstats.com is not certified.

Unfortunately I experienced a HDD crash last Friday, so the 1.12 release isn't what it should be. I was not able to complete the new reporting system, but we had to celebrate this anniversary nevertheless. You can expect the full 1.12 release once my machine is up and running again.

Finally a big thanks to No0B [GER] for helping out with the laurel wreath!

1.11 aftermath

Being in the storm after the calm so to say^^ we're still making great progress after the 1.11 release. As promised the country ranking is now based on the cached ranking data and speedy just like the rest! The complete site should now offer a great experience with zero waiting times. :)

In the mean time I'm hot on the heels implementing some of the upcoming 1.12 features. I'm so excited about one part, that I did not want to wait any longer with it: BADGES! Yes, AchStats supports now tracking of your badges! :D You'll find them in your profile and a complete listing in the new menu item!

Another part of this partial 1.12 update was the usage of Piwik. This is a free open source web analytics tool and helps us to improve the site. Don't worry about your privacy: Piwik is hosted on our own server, respects the "Do Not Track" policy of your browser and even allows you to opt-out from any data recording. You'll find the option in the about section. I think it's fair enough to annouce it here. :) In the future, we plan to publish some data of Piwik, like unique visitors today in the statistics menu for the benefit of all!
