\TG/ News: December 2011
NOTE: Please feel free to respond to this content in the comments section on this announcement. You may also make a post on our forums, but the Steam group usually gets much more attention.

Hello all,

Once in a while, I post an announcement here concerning various things going on with our servers or community. I wish to let everyone know what is going on, and possibly request feedback on some items in this news post. Here goes!

>SourceTunes Radio (TF2): Sourcetunes.com, the provider of the in-game radio streaming services on our TF2 servers, has recently changed their website, as well as creating a Basic/Premium sales model to support the services they provide. As of today, we have gotten rid of the now useless Radio plugin and use the Basic service (still accessible by typing !radio, turn off by typing !radio-off) which features 8 of the most popular genres on one page, better streaming and remembers the last radio station you were on. Premium is $1.99/mo, and we are trying to figure out if we should upgrade or not. Try out the radio, and if your favorite genres aren't there anymore, please let us know so we may consider getting Premium service and unlocking lots of SHOUTcast stations, rebranding the radio page with our logo, etc.

>Kamikaze: Two weeks ago, I changed Kamikaze's map rotation significantly. This server now runs 37 stock maps (versus about 25 on the other servers). However, in its current state, it lacks the full RTV ability to choose any map included with TF2. I was running into problems supporting dual rotations, so this is why RTV on that server does not show a categorized list that includes all the stock maps. Is this new rotation favorable? I intended it to be an expanded rotation and include may maps we haven't run on our servers for a long time. Should we make another one of our servers this style? I also removed the vote crits functionality from this server because not many community players seem to care about random crits anymore, and it was having trouble remembering the player preferences sometimes.

>NYC Virtual Dedicated Server problems: I am aware of the intermittent lag/rubberbanding affecting all of our NYC TF2 servers, and I am trying to work with NFO to figure out the issue with this particular VDS. Most of our TF2 servers are identical as far as addons and configurations go, and the server have been established for narly 6 months with no real problems, so the fact that it's localized to the NYC VDS leads me to believe there is a problem with the actual dedicated server itself, and not my configurations. We wish to have 100% problem free servers, but things do happen, and we're working on the issue. If you are bothered by the lag spikes, I'd recommend playing on our Chicago public servers as they appear to be unaffected. We will try to get this resolved as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience.

>Minecraft Server: Contrary to what our GameTracker server status says, our server has been online this whole time, and will continue to be for an indefinite time frame. The status appears as offline because I have quit using the Bukkit server mod, which is required for GameTracker to track the server. I also use a new mapping system that works much better than the previous one. I will update the map about once a week, and you can view it at http://maps.trashedgamers.org/mcmap/ If you wish to play on this server, you must ask Xena or Jstn7477 for your Minecraft username to be whitelisted, and you must respect our standard rules (basically, don't fuck with the property, buildings, creations, etc. of other players, as many spend a great chunk of time building things).

As always, we are thankful for our community members who support us by regularly playing on our servers, donating, etc. Let us know if you have any suggestions, and we will take them into consideration. Thank you!

Best Regards,
